1 Large 20th century Lime green glass spider button. Bimini glass buttons have become quite the rage in the past 10-20 years. They were made in the 1940's by. A company in England was created by a man named Fritz Lampl who created these designs back then in carious colored glass, many of which have gold or silver luster highlights on them. 1 Large medium early 20th century CORALENE glass button. Coralene glass is made of tiny little beads of glass that are cemented onto the base material (in this case white glass) and set to create the design or pattern desired. Sort of like a mosaic of glass beads. This colorful example is in fine condition. Medium sizes are certainly scarcer than the smaller examples, although any size is desirable among collectors. 1 Medium late 19th century Gin Bari foil enamel button. Gin Bari enamels from Japan are highly collectible and this example is no exception. Depicting two koi goldfish and set on a green background and mounted in silver. The back is also signed which is a less common thing on Gin Bari examples. The eyes and part of the tail show the silver which is not damage, this is the artists way of accenting and highlighting the fish. A great example. 1 Large 20th century pierced enamel butterfly. This incredible button was owned by Pauline Lum of California and came to us with her collection recently. It appears to have been made by an Asian person by the signature on the enameled back, and perhaps custom made for Pauline, but unknown. The butterfly is done in multi colored Cloisonne enamel and the pierced design above the butterfly suggests an Arts and Crafts feeling to it. Very cool indeed. This set from the Toshikane Pottery company on Japan are known to collectors as Arita porcelain buttons since they were made in the ARITA province of Japan. The Japanese did not use buttons so the buttons they produced were made for the Western trade, however many soldiers and sailors purchased sets like in these in Japan of the 7 immortal Gods, to bring back to their wives as souvenir's. 1 Large hand carved and engraved multi face example. Here is a very finely detailed natural material carving from Japan known as a Netsuke or Okimono. The detail is incredible and in very fine condition as witnessed by the multitude of images attached. You will see the detailed faces are carved on every side of this example and depict multiple different faces. This came from the famous button collection of Eugenie Lydecker of Connecticut. Some of you may still recall of part of her collection being sold in 1980. She had amassed a fabulous collection of which some were given to children and grandchildren. We purchased part of the collection from a grandson many years ago and now a granddaughter has decided to sell as well. Coralene glass is made of tiny little beads of glass that are cemented onto the base material (in this case white glass) and set to create the design or pattern desired. 1 Large 19th century brass button with three foxes. Bruce says he has never seen this version of the three foxes. This design around the three foxes is what's more unusual. The radiating pierced line design that frames the three foxes makes this button quite different than the more usual version seen by collectors. If your at all familiar with the Rzanski/Shaw Jasperware buttons then you know this color combination is quite unusual, that is because they were custom made for the late Alice Mucha of the Bronx. Alice was good friends with the sisters and often commissioned buttons to be made by them.
