French Model 1874 Gras rifle bayonet and scabbard, date 1877. This bayonet has a solid brass pommel with integral latching mechanism (push-button/spring-steel). Grips are wood. Crossguard is steel with upper guard being the muzzle-ring, lower guard forming a hooked "blade-breaker" quillon. Blades are steel - well made - and triangular (3-edge) in form, very sturdy as a thrusting weapon. The blade are marked on the back-edge, dated 1877. The scabbards are sheet-rolled steel, semi-oval, tubular, with a ball finial. This bayonet was the last of the French "sword-type" bayonet. It was manufactured to fit the French Model 1874 "Gras" Infantry Rifle, basically a refinement of the Model 1866 Chassepot Infantry Rifle. The "Gras" was manufactured from 1874 to about 1885.

It was primarily used by small businesses, government agencies, and postal services. The van was designed to be simple, durable, and reliable, and it was available in a variety of configurations, including panel vans, pick-up trucks, and minibus versions. The Bedford CA van was a popular vehicle in its time and is still highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts today.This grey CA has been painstakingly restored to a very high standard by a gentleman who rebuilds classic commercials for a living. SRD 146H is believed to be ex-royal household, owned by Windsor Castle’s signwriter, and used just in the grounds, only being registered when sold to their employee. It was purchased by the current owner from the signwriter’s son. The bodywork and paint is in fantastic order, with wooden roof rails restored as per originals fitted by the signwriter; the underside is also excellent. The van starts on the button and drives beautifully selecting all gears with ease. It is reported that the engine is new along with a refurbished gearbox. Sliding back those iconic doors reveals a stunning interior, with red seats and wood lined floor. A variety of motor vehicles from the late Peter Sidnell who rented the same Wiltshire barn for over 30 years and was an avid fettler and classic car enthusiast. The majority of the cars were acquired before the early 80’s through friends and family where Peter had previously helped maintain their vehicles.The Morris Minor was one of Britain’s family-favourites backed up by over two decades of production. This 1961 4-door example in grey was registered in February of that year and has had just two previous owners. It was owned by Mr. Sidnell’s best friend from new, serviced and maintained by Peter in that time and then acquired by him at a later date. The car started on the button and has received a recent MOT. There is some minor body rust that needs sorting but not reported to be structural; the car will require some recommissioning.
