A George III shagreen cased etui of silver mounted drawing instruments George Adams, London, late 18th century The tapered oblong shagreen veneered case with silver clasp button, hinge, collar mounts and caps to top and base, the interior enclosing two silver and steel compass dividers, interchangeable pen/pencil attachments, a silver folding sector signed G. Adams, London, a silver mounted steel parallel ruler and a silver ruler engraved with mathematical plotting and protractor scales signed G. Adams, No. 60 Fleet Street, London , (lacking two accessories) the case 18cm (7ins) high. George Adams senior is recorded in Clifton, Gloria Directory of British Scientific Instrument Makers 1550-1851 as apprenticed to Thomas Heath gaining his Freedom of the Grocers Company in 1733. He worked from several addresses in and around Fleet Street, London until his death in 1772, these include Tycho Brahe's Head, 60 Fleet St. where the business was based from 1738. In 1760 Adams was appointed as Mathematical Instrument Maker to King George III for whom he supplied a vast range of apparatus including items for pneumatic and mechanical experimentation almost all of which survive in The King George III Collection housed in the Science Museum, London. George Adams junior was apprenticed to and succeeded his father working as maker of a full range of instruments including globes from Tycho Brahe's Head, 60 Fleet St. 1772-95. He was succeeded by his widow, Hannah, before the premises was taken over by his brother, Dudley, in 1796.

An unusual French gilt brass and polished wood carriage clock with push-button repeat and alarm Unsigned, late 19th century The two train eight-day gong striking movement with silvered platform lever escapement regulated by sprung split bimetallic balance and alarm sounding on the same gong, the circular silvered Roman numeral dial with rosette engraved centre and blued steel spade hands set within engine-turned mask incorporating conforming alarm setting dial to lower margin, the bevel glazed case with wood inset substantial hinged carrying handle over gilt top plate incorporating escapement aperture and repeat button over complex wood top mouldings and alternating wood/gilt brass reeded corner uprights divided by further brass plates, the rear with door, on ogee moulded skirt base terminating with brass plate and shallow pad feet, 16cm (6.25ins) high. The unusual combination of gilt brass and polished wood for the case, coupled with the engine-turned and engraved silvered dial are features that were almost certainly employed to ensure that the current lot appealed to the English market. The fact that the backplate is also annotated with the various functions in English would confirm that the clock was made for export to the United Kingdom.

Aviation, Rare 1930s Schneider Trophy miniature, surmounted with a sculpture of silver plated bronze depicting a Zephyr skimming the waves and a nude winged figure kissing Zephyr recumbent on a breaking wave flanked by two other Zephyrs and of Neptune. The symbolism representing speed conquering the elements of sea and air. The ebonised wooden base mounted with seven plated plaques to the sides detailing names of the winning teams 'High-Speed Flight - Royal Air Force 1927, 1929, 1931' and 'International Schneider Trophy won outright by Vickers Super Marine Rolls-Royce S.6B 1931'. The trophy 14cm wide x 11cm deep x 12cm high. The Schneider Trophy was first awarded annually and then bi-annually to the winner of a race for seaplanes and flying boats. It was held twelve times between 1913 and 1931 to encourage technical advances in aviation. The Rolls-Royce engined S.6B broke the world speed record twice and won the trophy outright, being the first aircraft to break the 400mph barrier . This example was presented to Charles BRIGSTOKE CB, Director of Contracts, The Air Ministry. Some damage to R/h wing and wear to edges of wooden plinth, makers button " Skinner & Co Silversmiths 34 Old Bond St", present on securing bolt hole in base .

RARE HEUER MONTE CARLO MILITARY ISSUE STOP WATCH with no. 314, 6B/3822 to the reverse; along with another for spares or repair (2) Condition Report:The stopwatch does start and stop as it should however it doesn’t reset to zero. The left hand button does change the hour window.It is in quite rough condition with patina to the hour markers and scratches all over. A LARGE EARLY 20TH CENTURY STEIFF TEDDY BEAR, mohair plush, centre seam, pointed snout, swivel head, pronounced humped back, jointed long limbs, black stitched nose and mouth, in the ear a metal 'STEIFF' button, with internal growler (not working) circa 1910. He is 16" high (seated) and 23.5" high (fully stretched) Originally owned by Edna Jackman of New Milton, pictured with him as a two year old in the early 1900s This kind and generous bear was previously sold by Mrs Jackman's husband on behalf of the Oakhaven Hospice in 1992 for £4,600. He is now being sold by the kind purchaser on behalf of the 'Dorset Blind Association' as it is time he found a new home! Probably the most famous of all teddies, the first Steiff bear was created in 1902 by Richard Steiff working for his aunt's toy company in Germany. The basic design with jointed arms and legs has been the template for all Steiff bears since then. In 1903, Richard Steiff took his bear to the Leipzig Toy Fair and there was discovered by an American business man who placed an order for 3,000 bears. They have been called "Teddy Bears" since 1906, after President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt. The trademark Steiff Button in the ear was introduced in 1908 to identify them from cheap imitations.
