A British WW1 era 1907 pattern Naval issue bayonet with scabbard and scarce 1918 dated leather frog fitted.Marked ‘1 18’ at the ricasso to indicate a January 1918 manufacture date, and the makers name of Wilkinson Pall Mall.Also marked with a bend test mark and various inspection stamps.Usual wooden slab grips, secured by two screws.Pommel with working button release catch, and stamped ‘N’ which would indicate it was Royal Navy issued.Complete with leather and steel mounted scabbard, marked ‘RE’ to the chape, indicating it was manufactured by Remington.The leather frog is faintly marked with a broad arrow and ‘18’ top the reverse side.Overall length 57.7cm in scabbard, blade length 43.4cm.Condition: generally good.The wooden grips have some old knocks and chips, but are otherwise in good order.A good amount of bluing still present to the blade, with just a little pitting / mottling towards the tip.Scabbard good, with only normal service wear.The leather frog has a little surface cracking, but is still supple.

Lot 99

WW2 1943 dated K98 bayonet, with matched numbers to bayonet and scabbard. Of standard form, with ribbed Bakelite handle secured by 2 screws. Steel pommel, backpiece and cross guard, with working button release catch to the pommel. Blued steel single blade, which is apparently has never been sharpened. Serial number of ‘3927 ff’ stamped to the ricasso on one side, with the other having the stamp ‘43asw’ indicating a manufacturing date of 1943, and that it was made by E & F Horster. Matched numbers to the steel scabbard (on both sides), plus Waffenamt marked in several places. Approximately 40.5cm length in scabbard, blade length 25.4cm. Condition: generally very good. Bakelite grips intact and without damage. Blued blade retains approximately 90% of its original finish, with the usuals track lines from withdrawing it from its scabbard. The steel parts have darkened with age, but remain in good condition. A couple of minor dents to the reverse of the scabbard, but these don’t detract, and it doesn’t affect the blade being withdrawn.

A WW1 era M1917 Remington with scabbard.Standard wooden slab grips, with distinctive double notch to both sides.Blue pommel and cross guard, the former with push button release catch.Remington manufactures mark and 1917 stamped at the ricasso, plus the flaming grenade and US proof marks.The scabbard is of the correct olive green leather, with blackened brass metal belt clip.The leather scabbard is stamped with the manufacturers mark of ‘Jewell’ and dated 1918, plus it is also stamped ‘GHS’ into the leather.This type of bayonet was often issued to the British Home Guard during WW2.Overall length approximately 58cm in scabbard, blade length 43cm.Condition: generally very good.The pommel, cross guard, and muzzle ring retains most of the original blueing, with the blade also being mostly clean and tidy.Some service related small knocks to the wooden grips, but nothing that detracts.The leather scabbard and metal fittings are in good condition, with minimal age and service related wear.

A quantity of WW1, WW2 and later British regimental cap badges, plus some sterling silver WW2 ARP badges. To include: Northamptonshire Regiment, Cameron Highlanders, Highland Light Infantry, RAOC, Somerset Light Infantry, REME, Royal Berkshire, Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry, Cheshire Regiment, 16th Battalion The Welsh Regiment Cardiff Pals, West Riding Regiment, Scots Guards, The Buffs, Worcestershire Regiment, Royal Scots Greys x 2, Royal Hampshire Regiment, Queens Own Yeomanry, Australian Commonwealth Military Forces (missing one loop to reverse), and 2 WW2 ARP hallmarked sterling silver badges, both with button hole fixings to the reverse. 21 badges total. Condition: generally good. Many of the badges show service and age related wear, with some having old ingrained polish. The Australian badge has a loop missing to the reverse, and appears quite oxidised (possibly buried at some point?) All of the other badges retain their loops or sliders to the reverse side.

A WW2 Australian issued 1907 pattern bayonet, made by Lithgow.Marked ‘MA 1907’ (MA being the code for Lithgow Small Arms) at the ricasso, and dated ‘2 42’ for February 1942.The ricasso is also stamped with broad arrow marks, and inspection stamps.The pommel is also stamped with an arrow within a D, indicating the Department of Defence.Usual wooden slab grip handles, secured by 2 screw, working button release catch to the pommel, and release hole bored into the pommel.Complete with steel mounted leather scabbard, and teardrop shaped frog stud attached to the steel throat area.Approximate overall length 58cm, blade length 43cm.Condition: generally good.Good damage free wooden grips, with much of blueing remaining to the pommel and cross guard.Clean blade with some blueing remaining.Some darkening to the steel throat and chape, with the latter also having some pitting to the metal.Good patination to the leather on the scabbard.

Lot 167

A scarce WW2 era Soviet Russian summer weight tanker jacket, with 2 enamel badges applied to the right breast. Olive drab green cotton, with 2 breast pockets and 5 buttons to the front. A further 2 buttons are each cuff (each button with a star, hammer and sickle motifs. Wool epaulette to each shoulder, with evidence of a badge having been mounted there. The badges pinned to the right breast include the very rare pre war era RKKA badge, and a WW2 era Tanker badge for excellence in combat.Both badges are screw back (one with replacement later fitting). Notes: information supplied by the vendor states that the jacket was purchased from Major Yuri Kumikov of The Amour Museum, Saritov, Russia. It’s believed to date from circa 1940/41. No apparent issue or maker marks to the jacket. Condition: Small hole to the fabric under one of the epaulettes (one epaulette is also partly detached. Some very minor spot soiling in places, but nothing that is detrimental. Both badges are in good condition, but one has a replacement screw back.

Lot 97

A WW2 German Kriegsmarine officer's dagger, by F.W.Holler, Solingen. Off white / ivory coloured celluloid grip, complete with twisted wire binding. Pommel set with eagle and swastika, plus fouled anchor motif and release catch button set into the cross guard. Leather washer at the ricasso, plus the etched F W Holler makers mark. Good clean blade, with double fuller, and etched sailing ship and anchor detail. Complete with brass scabbard, with 2 suspension rings, and usual etched lightning bolt detail. Approximately 41.7cm length in scabbard, blade length 25cm. Condition: very good. Intact celluloid grip with no cracks or chipping, plus intact wire binding. Evidence of old polish in amongst the design to the pommel, cross guard and scabbard. Good clean blade, with clear etched design and makers mark. Good scabbard, with only a very slight depression to the metal around the area of the lightning bolts (often seen in the area of the scabbard). The blade release catch works well. Overall, a very good example of its type.

A British 1907 pattern Wilkinson made bayonet with scabbard and leather frog.Stamped with the date of ‘9.17’ for September 1917 to the ricasso, plus the makers mark, broad arrow, bend test mark, and various inspection marks.Standard slab wooden grips, secured by 2 screw, plus a release catch button the pommel.Complete with leather scabbard, with the usual steel chape and throat area, the latter having a rounded frog stud.Faint mark to the steel chapeThe leather frog is also faintly marked, and seems to read as ‘BH&G Ltd’ which would indicate it was made by Barrow Hepburn & Gale, and would date the frog to the post WW1 era (company formed in 1920).There is a very faint date mark to the frog, which could be 1935.Approximately 57.6cm overall length in scabbard, blade length 43.5cm.Condition: generally good, with normal age and service wear.Good colour and patina to the wooden grips, plus some darkening to the steel on the pommel and cross guard.Good level of bluing remaining to the blade, and no apparent corrosion.Scabbard generally good, with just a small stress crack to the leather.Some loss to the leather frog on the reverse side, not affecting its use or appearance from the front side.

Lot 182

A WW2 era Indian SMLE bayonet, with scabbard and webbing frog. Marked GRI with a crown at the ricasso, plus MKII and 5.42, indicating it was made in May 1942. The ‘RFI’ stamp is for the Rifle Factory Ishapore. Complete with wooden slab grips, and pommel with push button catch release. The scabbard is of leather construction, with steel chape and throat. Fitted with a tan webbing frog. Given the date on item, it likely saw service in Burma during the conflict. Approximately 45.8cm length in scabbard. Plus, a bone handled Kukri knife, with the usual curved blade, and leather sheath with the small Karda and Chakmak. The Kukri is likely from the same era as the SMLE bayonet. Approximately 46cm in the sheath. Condition: some age and service wear to both. The SMLE has a fair amount of wear to the leather part of the scabbard, but could certainly be improved by some cleaning. The blade is a little darkened in places, but is in good order. The webbing frog shows service wear but is otherwise good. The sheath for the Kukri is a little worn and tired in places, but is mostly complete. The blade is mostly clean, and shows evidence of sharpening (and is actually razor sharp to the cutting edge).

A British WW1 era 1907 pattern bayonet, with scabbard.Stamped ‘4 17’ to the ricasso, indicating a manufacturing date of April 1917.It’s also stamped with the makers details of Sanderson, the broad arrow and bend test mark, and various inspection marks.The leather and steel mounted scabbard is stamped ‘RE’ to the chape and throat area, indicating it was made by Remington.Usual wooden slab grips, secured by two screws.Overall length in scabbard 56.3cm, blade length 43cm.Condition: generally good.The wooden grips show some normal age and service wear, and there is a little loss to the wood around one of the screws.The pommel has a working button release catch, and much of its bluing remaining.The blade is excellent, with virtually all of its bluing present, with just a few track lines from where it has and been withdrawn from the scabbard.The scabbard is good and solid, with just a little old surface corrosion to the chape area.

A WW1 German Erzatz bayonet. All steel construction, with open muzzle ring and contoured handle. Button release catch to the pommel area, which would to operate correctly. Faint part serial number on the cross guard, which reads ‘..83’. Single edged blade with fuller, but no apparent makers marks or dates. Approximately 45cm length in scabbard, blade length 30.5cm. Condition: generally solid, but some service and age related wear. Some surface corrosion and pitting to both the handle and scabbard, with the latter having a shallow dent near the frog stud. The blade is relatively bright, and shows evidence of sharpening. There are multiple nicks to the cutting edge, plus some blackening to the tip area of the blade (possibly from long term contact with a type of oil?). The release catch on the pommel works as it should.
