REEL: A rare Gladstone Gough 4.5" narrow drum alloy trotting reel by Kenny Kendal, Leeds, c1940 twin horn handles on brass cusps, centre spindle adjuster, button release, full frame with slot line guide, 2 screw foot, no fitted check, fine reel. Note; Kenny Kendal Captained the mighty Leeds Amalgamated angling team on the River Severn 1952, taking the title for the 7th time. Kendal made Aerial variant reels for his angling friends in his workshop at home. Few models ever appear for resale.

A 19TH-CENTURY 6½IN. RADIUS VERNIER SEXTANT BY T.L. AINSLEY, SOUTH SHIELDSwith polished brass `bell` pattern frame signed on the arc Made For T.L. Ainsley, South Shields, silvered scale divided to 155º, adjustable telescope and horizon glass, secured in original brass-bound fitted box with press-button release and accessories, Kew test certificate with `0` error from 1904 and ivorine "Hezzanith" plate — 10¼in. (26cm.) diameter. T.L. Ainsley worked, or sold, from several locations between 1858-1886. This example appears to be of higher quality than later `bell` framed examples and is presumably one of the first of this well-known model to be retailed. Originally the frame would have been oxidised brass, the special mirror key ensured that this instrument`s errors could be maintained at `0`.
A mixed lot, comprising silver items, a set of six silver handles fruit knives and forks, with closed plated blades and tines, two candlesticks, (a.f), a trophy cup, napkin ring and a button hook, plus and Indian metal ware trophy cup and a napkin ring, plus an electroplated egg cutter and a pair of scissor snuffers.
