The chairs have come privately and have been in the same house for many years. The chairs are not without faults - there is some fading where the arched top rails meet the vertical uprights and there is some movement. It is visible on most of the chairs that the gaps have widened slightly. Some chairs are lighter and darker than others, some have fading. The height to the seat is 43/44cm. There are holes to the underside of the rails underneath which leads the Auctioneer to believe that they were once upholstered in a different way. The present upholstery ends at the bottom and not underneath. Some blocks have been re-glued and strengthened to underside. The chairs are not perfect. There is evidence of some old woodworm etc. please see images. There is some scratching and scuffing etc. commensurate with age. Some small splits to legs (repaired). One chair with front leg badly repaired with a screw behind (please see image). In conclusion the chairs are usable and look good but there are repairs and restorations commensurate with age etc.
