1950s evening gowns, including John Cavanagh magenta taffeta ball gown with over-bodice, cummerbund and matching coat; black taffeta couture gown with pink gauze sash and matching paper taffeta cape; Dior London grey tulle ball gown trimmed with rosebuds; gold Indonesian brocade dress, orange organdy dress and a stole (qty) CONDITION REPORT: · Mixed condition, would benefit from cleaning. Black taffeta with pink scarf panel - good condition, back seam needs re-stitching approx. 3cm rear hem · Black taffeta cape - good condition · Cavanagh ensemble - lovely colour and shape but poor condition. All pieces have fading and are scattered with worm holes. Dress: hem is soiled and faded. 2 metal bones within bodice corset are snapped. Bodice: lacking one button, taffeta is wrinkled at inner elbows and scuffed at underarms. Faded at cuffs. Sash: colour is good, scattered with multiple worm holes. Coat: badly faded. · Satin stole - good condition · Orange dress - skirt has faint brown stains generally and pinholes to bodice · Indonesian brocaded dress - metallic threads are tarnished and rubbed in places. Faded in stripes along skirt. · Dior grey tulle - poor condition, in need of restoration. Tear to rayon inner corset, slight perspiration stains at underarms. Top layer of skirt tulle to front and sides is badly torn but back area of tulle is ok. Needs the top skirt layer of tulle replaced or restored.
A rare Twiggy Boutique cotton jumpsuit, 1967-1970, labelled, with psychedelic yellow and blue daisy print; bust 91cm, 36in; together with a US op-art vinyl black and white coat, c.1965, chest 91cm, 36in (2) British supermodel Twiggy launched her clothing line 'Twiggy Dresses' in February 1967. The range of affordable dresses were simple, fun and easy to wear. Each piece came with a free Twiggy hanger carrying a portrait of her face and the label ran successfully for three years. CONDITION REPORT: Twiggy jumpsuit - good condition, no problems. Coat - good condition, creases to vinyl at sleeves from wear. One button has been re-attached with a safety pin and is lacking backing button. Lining needs re-stitching at left underarm.

CONDITION REPORT: Both good condition. Moon and Stars- missing one button, covering is frayed on one other.

A Paquin couture appliqued black chiffon dress/coat, late 1930s, black on white woven satin label, indistinctly numbered, the chiffon ground with complex black crepe tabbed applique bands, self covered embroidered buttons, bust 107cm, 42in CONDITION REPORT: Good condition, very fresh in appearance. May have been shortened, length is more appropriate for the 40s. Lacking one button nearest hem. Ever so slightly soiled (would benefit from cleaning). 3 darned moth holes near hem centre back. 1 moth hole to rear collar. Very nice piece.
A Balenciaga couture black boucle wool suit, Autumn/Winter 1960, Paris labelled and numbered 78720 to jacket only, with curved seam contouring bustline, the skirt with front pleat concealing two pockets, bust 86cm, 34in (2) CONDITION REPORT: Good condition, very fresh. There is a 4x4cm patch to waistband where it has been let out. Stitched repair to rear lining, 19cm in length. Very faint discolouration around button holes where buttons have rubbed against the wool. Lacquer on buttons is faintly rubbed at edges (minor). One pre-stud at skirt waist is loose. Very nice suit. Jacket waist 30in, skirt waist 28in, hips 38in.
A Suffragette petticoat, circa 1910, of striped silk moiré with side button fastening CONDITION REPORT: Fabric is good condition, the occasional small scuff, small frayed area on a flounce (minor). The flounced band on the hem has been moved to make the petticoat larger. The waistband has been altered - several differing machined lines in different threads. I think the skirt has been made slimmer.

A coat made from a finely embroidered 1860s kashmir shawl, circa 1910-20, embroidered to imitate the tightest kashmiri weave, the ground and elaborate palmettes minutely worked in mainly satin stitch, with blue fringed borders, the coat with single button fastening and ivory silk lining, bust 97cm, 38in CONDITION REPORT: Embroidery is astounding - must have been worked under magnifiers. At first glance it looks woven, the stitches are so fine. Exterior of coat is generally good. 2 crude darned holes to rear right side of skirt, couple more below closure button. Lining is poor condition and very soiled. Gold ribbon to neck is later added.
