WW2 Royal Air Force Spitfire Spade Grip Recovered from Battle of Britain Crash Site, interesting example of the spade pattern grip which is missing its firing button. Stamped to the central column “AH 8272”, stamped to another section “AH 0 16068 ISS 4”. Attached to the grip is a paper label which states, “HAND GRIP FROM CONTROL STICK ON SPITFIRE, SHOT DOWN AT WOOLWICH DURING THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN. THE HOLE ON THE TOP RIGHT HAND SIDE IS FOR THE FIRING BUTTON FOR THE MACHINE GUNS WHICH WERE MOUNTED IN THE WINGS OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE ITEM WAS OBTAINED FROM THE MUSEUM OF WWII AIRCRAFT”. Generally good condition item, worthy of further research.
WW2 Japanese Naval Officers Dirk, with brass mounted hilt, shallow “S” shaped cross guard, floral pommel top, fish skin grip with floral stud and original wire binding. Housed in its original scabbard having press stud release button, floral brass mounts and two suspension rings. Blade retains much of the original finish, measures 22 ½ cms, overall 38cms. Very good example overall.

1920’s French Croix-de-Feu (Cross of Fire) Political Movement Armband, interesting blue cloth armband with yellow border. Centre of the armband has metal insignia of the organisation being a skull on brass cross with crossed swords. Button fitting to one end of the armband. Remains in good condition. This organisation was a far-right nationalist organisation in France made up of veterans from the First World War who had been awarded the Croix de Guerre. The organisation was led by Colonel Francois de la Rocque.
1st Model German Naval Officers Dress Dagger and Award Grouping Attributed to Vice Admiral (Vizeadmiral) Ernst (Friedrich Robert) Scheurlen, who was Killed on 8th April 1945, grouping consisting of a 1st model German naval officers dress dagger with flame pommel top, white celluloid grip retaining the wire binding, cross guard with press button release and dress portepee attached. Housed in its original deluxe pattern hammered scabbard with the original naval short and long hangers attached. Blade by Horster with sailing ship etched blade. The blade and fittings appear to be in very good condition. Accompanied by a post war blued blade presentation naval dagger in the form of the 2nd pattern Kriegsmarine Officers dagger, this example is also housed in a hammered scabbard. The daggers are mounted with his original awards from both WW1 and WW2, these consist of Imperial Iron Cross 1st class, Imperial Iron Cross 2nd class, Wurttemberg Friedrich Order 2nd class medal with swords, German Cross in gold (Deutsche Kreuz), Bar to the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd class, War Service Cross 1st class with swords, Coastal Artillery war badge, Krim campaign shield, 1914-18 Honour Cross, Austro Hungarian WW1 service medal, Bulgarian service medal and various miniature stick pin awards. Also mounted with the items is a Kriegsmarine officers breast eagle and studio portrait of Scheurlen in full uniform. Typed signed letter from his wife, Frau Else Scheurlen, accompanies the grouping. The set is all mounted into a large glass display frame. The frame measures 68 x 82 ½ cms. Vice Admiral Scheurlen was born in Strasbourg on 5th December 1892. He served during WW1 but rose through to Vice Admiral in the German Kriegsmarine becoming commander of the Naval forces in Southern France, he was commander when the allied forces launched Operation Dragoon. He was moved back to Germany and his last command was that of the 2nd Marine Division in February 1945. The division fought against the British forces on the Western Front in Germany and he was killed in action on the 8th April 1945. Please note C&T Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd, have not been able to remove items from the frame to inspect, but all appear to be as we have stated. Sold on this basis.
Third Reich Kriegsmarine Officers Dress Dagger by P D Luneschloss Solingen, very good example of the German naval officers dress dagger having much of the original gilt wash finish remaining to the exterior fittings. Eagle pommel top with swastika to the centre, white celluloid grip retaining the original wire binding, standard pattern cross guard with press button release to the reverse. Dagger is housed in the original scabbard with deluxe pattern roped hanging ring attachments. Double edged blade etched with fouled anchor and foliage. Blade has makers trade mark to the base of the blade. Much of the original polished finish remains to the blade. The blade measures 25cms, overall 41cms.
Third Reich Kriegsmarine Officers Dress Dagger by WKC, fine example retaining much of the original gilt wash finish. White celluloid grip retaining the wire binding, gilt metal eagle top pommel with swastika to the centre, cross guard with fouled anchor to the centre cartouche and press button release on the reverse. Complete with the original deluxe pattern hammered scabbard with two plain hanging rings. Plain double edged blade with two central fullers. Late war WKC letter trade mark to the base. The blade measures 25cms, overall 42cms. Generally good example of a late war naval officers dagger.
Scarce Third Reich Naval Officers Deluxe Pattern Dress Dagger by WKC, fine deep orange celluloid grip retaining the original wire binding. Gilt metal eagle pommel with swastika to the centre. Cross guard with fouled anchor to the cartouche and press button release on the reverse. Attached to the grip is an original naval officers bullion dress portepee. Dagger is housed in a deluxe pattern scabbard with fine relief of oak leaves and acorns. The hanging rings are also with oak leaves relief. Standard etched blade with central double fuller and WKC knights helmet trade mark to the base. The blade measures 25cms, overall 42cms. Generally a good example of a scarce variation German naval dagger.
Third Reich Hitler Youth Boys Dagger by Anton Wingen Solingen, fine example of a Hitler Youth boys dagger with two piece black chequered grips. Enamel HJ diamond insignia inserted to the centre of grip. Housed in its original black painted steel scabbard with leather belt attachment strap. Press button stamped “STOCKO”. Good condition blade without motto, having makers trade mark figure of a knight to one side and the other side with RZM M7/51/38. The blade remains in very good overall condition. Blade 13cms, overall 25cms.
Rare Third Reich Water Protection Police (Wasserschutzpolizei) Officers Dress Dagger with Matching Hanging Straps by E & F Horster Solingen, good example with gilt flame top pommel, blue leather covered grip with copper wire binding, not Police eagle appears to have ever been present, standard naval pattern cross guard with press button to the reverse. Housed in its original brass scabbard with two hanging rings. Double edged blade with etched foliage and anchor to both sides of the blade. E & F Horster makers trade mark to the base. Blade retains much of the original polish. Accompanying the dagger is a very rare pair of the full dress hanging straps for the Water Protection Police with gilt metal fittings and gold wire brocade on black velvet backing. Much of the gilt wash to the fittings has worn with just remains still visible, mostly on the buckle fittings. The dagger blade measures 25cms, overall 40 ½ cms.

Golay Fils & Stahl, Geneve a small striking carriage clock: the eight-day duration movement having a platform lever escapement and striking the hours and half-hours on a bell, with a push button to repeat the last hour at will, the backplate is stamped with the serial number 2472, the white enamel dial has black Roman hour numerals, decorative blued steel hands and signed for the maker Golay Fils et Stahl, Geneve, the small corniche case having a typical three bail handle, complete with the original winding key having the maker's details stamped on it, height 15.5cms handle up: 12.5cms handle down. * Biography Golay Fils & Stahl of Geneve were successors to l'ancienne maison Golay-Leresche & Fils founded in 1837, makers of clocks and watches with grande complications. Their address was Quai des Bergues 31 with the maison Paris at Rue de la Paix 2. They won various medals for their work including Paris in 1855 & 1878 and London in 1851 & 1862 culminating in a gold medal at Zurich in 1896. Clerke, London retailer, a French carriage clock: the eight-day duration movement having a platform lever escapement and striking the hours and half-hours on a gong with a push button to the top to repeat the last hour at will, the backplate stamped with initials GLC for Gay, Lemaille & Company, and numbered 2653 along with the wording Patent Surety Roller, the silvered dial having an inset centre painted with black Roman numerals and signed for the retailer Clerke, I Royal Exchange, London and having blued steel spade hands, the anglaise case with shaped mouldings to the top and bottom and with a fluted handle, height 17.25cms handle up,15cms handle down. *Notes The patent surety roller was invented by German-born Moritz Immisch whose brevet for it in 1879 was reported in the Revue Chronométrique. Gay, Lemaille & Company acquired the patent in 1880 and it was described in The Horological Journal, March 1880, as an "Improvement in Carriage Clocks, to prevent Accidental Shifting of the Star Wheel", being a further wheel with a crescent-shaped cut-out set within the strike-work which enabled the strike at each hour to keep in synchronization with the hour hand. * Notes Horology, Vol. 38, issue 2 June 2017, the journal of the Antiquarian Horological Society.
