A rare early Steiff pre-button felt elephant skittles, (Ele) all nine skittles of dark grey felt, black glass bead eyes, wooden tusks and turned wood bases, the Kingpin with red felt tail coat with yellow felt trim and crown with gilt braid and spangles, original ribbons and bell to others, circa 1901 - 7½in (19cm) height of King (some moth damage and repairs); two homemade cloth balls; a watercolour of Agharainy in Donaghmore and another of the play house by Elizabeth Kinnard; a cut-out photographic standie of Robert Brown; and two postcards and a letter head for Colleen Soap, McClinton’s Ltd. Provenance: These skittles were bought by Robert Brown for his children and were kept by Alice, the middle of five children, until her death in 1994 at the age of 93. The Browns were a wealthy family from Donaghmore, in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. They made their fortune from selling high quality soap.

B. Ford, signed and dated 1885, with the head of a lurcher in a gilt metal mount, 2.3cm diameter; a late Victorian enamel button, with the head of a Staffordshire terrier, unsigned and undated, 2.1cm diameter; and three mid Victorian enamel buttons by William Essex, each with the heads of foxes, all signed W. Essex and dated 1861 and 1862, each 2.1cm diameter (13) William Essex (1784?-1869), James (John) William Bailey (1831-1914) and William Bishop Ford (1832-1922). Both Bailey and Ford were pupils of William Essex. In 1839 Essex was appointed Enamel Painter in Ordinary to Princess Augusta, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

THREE FIRST WORLD WAR RELATED ITEMS, two trench art pin trays, one having a German belt buckle badge with the motto "Gott Mit Uns" (God with us), the other inscribed - 1914-18 Egypt; sold together with a first world war button stick bearing the service number of Spr John. L. G Stanley, Royal Engineers. Condition Reports: Good - some tarnishing, the buckle badge is separating from the main part of the tray.
A brown crocodile leather suitcase with silver mounted fittings by Drew & Sons, London 1917, with handle and the cover bearing initials ‘V.C.’, the interior fitted with silver mounted accessories, with engine turned decoration and engraved ‘VC’, comprising: six cut glass bottles, a cut glass spirit flask, a shoe horn, a button hook and a part manicure set, together with crocodile leather items and a canvas outer cover, 37.5cm x 51.5cm (14 3/4in x 20 1/4in). This suitcase comes from the Constant family, who had the Constant shipping line, but lost most of their ships in the Second World War. This case belonged to Vera Constant.

L33 Souvenir - Kaiserlicht Marine Jacket. Framed (64cm x 80cm x 5cm deep) and glazed (the glass is now broken). The jacket has been secured in the frame with the sleeves crossing at the front to display the remaining details. No buttons remain, but a handwritten piece of card explains that the buttons were removed and sold to contribute to War Funds. The left sleeve displays a Luftschiff badge (Oval badge on a navy blue background on which is embroidered in yellow thread and airship (bow to the left) within a border of yellow). Attached to the top buttonhole is the remains of an Iron Cross (outer section only). On the lining can be seen the printed mark “BAW, 31.?.06., 1” (BAW stands for Bekleidungsamt Wilhelmshaven). Further souvenirs are in the corners of the display, clockwise from top left are: (1) A piece of silvered fabric (11cm x 9cm) in the centre of which is mounted the cockade button off a Kaiserliche Marine Cap. (2) A piece of silvered fabric (11cm x 9cm) in the centre of which is mounted a broken silver pocket watch (black roman numerals on a white face, no glass and no hour or minute hands. (3) A 2 bladed penknife with white handle and a piece of scorched wood. (4) A twisted piece of Aluminium Alloy. Note: “These souvenirs of the German Zeppelin L33 were recovered in a field at Little Wigborough , Essex during September 1916. The Airship was badly damaged in an air-raid on London. It landed and was set ablaze by the crew who escaped only to be captured on their way to the coast. The buttons were removed from this discarded tunic and sold to raise war funds.”GC See Plate 2
