A fine 19th Century calamander ladies vanity case The rectangular hinged cover centred with a brass oval with a blue silk padded interior, the gilt metal lock plate stamped Betjeman & Sons makers, London with a compartmentalized tray fitted with a blue velvet panel with eight manicure items including six with Mother of Pearl handles, two rectangular glass boxes with engraved EPNS mounted covers, two cut glass jars with push on tops and a row five circular and square glass jars above a concealed drawer stamped A Scott, Wheeler Gate, Nottingham. 20x30x22.5cms. (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 1778 - the rectangular hinged cover surface scratching wood and scratching to the oval brass inset, original pleated blue lining to inner lid, some staining to the lower section of the lid lining, gilt metal hinge and hinges bright some inner rusting to the bolt of the hinge. One rectangular glass bottle internal crack along the base, rectangular glass box minor chip to rim. Some surface scratching and bruising to the metal mounts of each item. Frieze drawer spring in good condition operated by the central internal button, with signature to the panel A Scott Nottingham. Drawer line is good condition, original padded lining some staining. One loop handle missing to the tray with the sewing compendium and rectangular boxes. Original red velvet applied to the base with some tears, good condition.

A Chinese embroidered tunic robe, early 20th Century The pale blue sating robe with high button collar and black satin trim, embroidered throughout with pink, purple and orange chrysanthemum sprays, and budding lotus stem, adorned with three gilt metal buttons. CONDITION REPORT: overall poor to moderate condition, the robe shows signs of age and wear indicative of age, extensive fraying to collar with small holes to the edges. Both sleeves have extensive wear and fraying at the edges, lining and robe have come apart Central button panels show fraying, also the lining and robe have come apart Central button panels show fraying, also the lining and robe have come apart in several areas Holes visible at all the edging panels, also noticeable fraying and detaching from robe noticeable staining visible throughout embroidered threads remain vibrant

Small parting in seam at left pocket. Feature cuff button are showing age but not damaged. Lovely quality coat in overall good condition in line with age. See attached images.
