A GOTHIC REVIVAL CARVED WALNUT AND GREEN VELVET UPHOLSTERED ARMCHAIR CIRCA 1870, IN THE MANNER OF EUGÈNE VIOLLET-LE-DUC (1814-1879) The carved showframe with mythical beasts to the arms, the sides of the frame carved with foliate scrolls 120cm high Provenance: Purchased from Paul Reeves Condition Report: With wear, marks, knocks and scratches as per age, handling, use, and cleaning. Structurally fairly firm and stable. typical wear and rubbing to exposed margins of frame, particularly along lower section of frame and legs. Arm terminals paler from handling and sunlight. Some looseness to replacement screws visible to underside. One caster stamped Lingham.
