Six items to include a cut steel and transfer print brooch with four character panels each bordered with faceted steel, a painted mother of pearl pendant, a Satsuma button (AF) and three transfer printed porcelain plaques of varying sizes. In good to fair condition. Steel and transfer brooch has considerable wear and tear to reverse including scratches and signs of repair are visible, from the back it also appears that either something is missing from the centre of the brooch or that it is a component of parts and the pin/clasp has been added at a later date. The transfers are showing some wear, two are of women and two men-dimensions approx 3.8 by 3.2cm. The mother of pearl pendant has bird/flower design to one side and flower/patterned design to the other-the detail has worn in places on both sides-dimensions 6.5 by 3.7cm. The Satsuma button is in fair condition and is missing any kind of attachment or setting to the reverse, the metal to the reverse is very discoloured but the cross within a circle mark is visible/clear. To the front, the background material is internally cracked in places and the house/tree/sea scene has chipped in places or worn-diameter 3.4cm.
A 'Guild' button brooch with central circular blue green mottled ceramic panel surrounded by a beaten metal circular border. Stamped 'The Guild Button N&.E.S' (N&E Spittle, registered as Art Metalworkers 1904) and with 'Registered No 388979'. Diameter 2.8cm. In good general condition. Probably once belonged to a set of buttons as appears to have been adapted into a brooch. Front and back metal showing wear and tear and discolouration though marks/stamps described are very clear. The pin is straight and clasp in working order, join marks are visible. Some abrasion to the central panel.
A George III parquetry strung mahogany bulb cistern tube stick barometer William Hardy, London, circa 1810. With broken pediment above shaped foliate engraved silvered scale with vernier, mercury tube Fahrenheit thermometer and signed Hardy, 171 Holborn, London behind shaped glazed door, the caddy moulded trunk with exposed tube flanked by book-matched veneers and parquetry strung borders, with brass button centred domed cistern cover to the rounded base, 95cm high, B.C. Ref. 41. Illustrated in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETERS Stick or Cistern Tube page 96. William Hardy is recorded by Banfield as working from 171 Holborn, London 1800-30.
