A CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE BELTHOOKQIANLONG/JIAQINGCarved in high relief with a chilong clambering along the stem with a lingzhi spay in its jaws, facing a dragon head terminal, the underside with a circular button, 11.3cm. Provenance: from the collection of James Haydock Esq and thence by descent.
A fine pair of Victorian epaulettes with a flaming grenade against a black felt ground, within gilt crescent, with bullion worked straps with red piping and a single small Royal Engineers button with VR monogram to the center. Each numbered 6898 and 'Left' and 'Right' in tin travelling box. 20.5 x 13cm. And another pair of eppaluettes, woven design with a decorated Crown for the rank of Major. According to the family these were the property of Colonel Henry William Vavasour (1783-1851). Whilst with the Royal Engineers he was posted to Gibraltar where he was present at the siege of Cadiz and defence of Tarifa. Copied bibliographic notes included with the lot. *CR Light moth damage to the felt. Otherwise good condition. Tin container with distressed surface. Second pair with some rubbing to surfaces from use.
With a 25 cm pointed double edged blade with central double fuller, marked to the ricasso for Eickhorn Solingen. The cross piece with release button and fouled anchor motif, with wire bound white composition handle beneath an eagle with folded wings. In scabbard with oak leaf mounts and twin ring suspension. 42 cm overall. *CR A war trophy from the vendors ancestor. Probably a late war example. Good condition with light rubbing.
A Webley Mark 3 Series III Air Rifle, with a 47cm barrel and rotating loading point, marked 'The Webley Mark 3 Webley & Scott Ltd, Birmingham, Made in England'. Retaining almost all original finish, 109cm overall. *CR A nice example, lacking button to stock, retaining much of the original finish. A black mess jacket with red cuffs and collar and gold braid front, the collar with twin bullion flaming grenade badges, the cuffs with scrolling braid and two small Royal Artillery buttons, the shoulders with twisted bullion epaulettes with two pips for the rank of Lieutenant, and Royal Engineers button. Approximately 45cm across the shoulders, the back 54cm top to bottom. *CR Collar detaching in places, repairs internally, but generally good.
