A .380” rifled pump up walking stick air cane, 38” overall, multi groove rifled brass barrel 21”, with “V” rear and blade fore sights, pop out button trigger, ivory knob, and brass ferrule with wooden ramrod attached. Good Working Order and Condition, extremely well relacquered overall; in its green baize lined fitted mahogany case, with circular brass escutcheon in the lid and two brass hook catches to the front, with trade label of Wm & Jn Rigby, Dublin, containing pump with separate handle, pincer bullet mount (rusty), cocking key and pewter oil bottle. Good Condition (the lid needs slight attention). Plate 33
An officer’s blue cloth peaked forage cap, gilt lace headband, bullion edging to black patent leather peak and domed top button, leather headband and red silk lining with maker’s stamp of “W. Buckmaster & Co London & Dublin” (style used 1841-84), old ink label inside “Worn by Major Edward Corbett, 88th Regt. Killed in the attack on the Quarries, 7 June 1855”. Good Condition Plate 15
A good quality mid 19th century German .300” percussion sporting rifle, by “Ulbrich in Dresden”, 43¾” overall, octagonal twist barrel 28”, with 2 gold lines at breech and gold inlaid with the maker’s name, with single standing rearsight; flat lock and hammer with lined borders and engraved with scrolled foliage; nicely figured pale walnut halfstock, with cheekpiece, scroll engraved chequered panels at the wrist, and sliding wooden butt trap cover released by sprung button in the centre of a carved flower head; steel mounts include large scrolled trigger guard enclosing double set triggers, trigger guard bow and butt plate tang engraved with scrolls, large flat scroll engraved sideplate mirroring the lock; with its original steel ramrod. Good Working Order and Condition, with dark patina to the metalwork (small chip to butt trap cover). Plate 29.
A post 1902 officer’s lance cap of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, black leather skull, cloth sides, leather top, gilt peak binding, headband, top mounts, cord rosette with button, rayed silver plated plate crowned regimental badge, within thistle wreath, scroll “South Africa 1900-02” at the bottom, falling black feather plume in gilt socket, leather and silk lining, velvet backed chinchain. An officer’s full dress uniform, with sword, of a Lieutenant, Royal Naval Reserve c 1910, comprising: cocked hat with bullion tassels fore and aft, twisted cord loop with button, in its tin case; tailcoat with white facings, gilt lace to collar (stitching faults) and cuffs with 2 lines of wavy braid; pair gilt epaulettes bearing embroidered fouled anchor within oval “Royal Naval Reserve”, in their velvet lined fitted tin case; pair overalls with gilt lace stripe; full dress waistbelt with double gilt stripes and gilt waistbelt clasp, and similar undress belt without stripes; Victorian Royal Naval officer’s sword, very slightly curved blade 29”, bearing crowned fouled anchor on one side and crowned Royal Arms on the other, in foliate panels, half basket gilt hilt with turn down inner portion which locks to scabbard, and incorporating crowned fouled anchor, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wire bound fishskin grip, with dress knot, in its brass mounted leather scabbard with 2 rings; all contained in tin trunk with initials JCR on lid. Uniform Very Good Condition, sword Good Condition the hilt retaining approximately 20% gilt, (light pitting to blade, scabbard some wear) Plate 9
