A Gilt Metal Mounted Ivory Jewellery Casket Necessaire, mid 19th century, of lobed oval form, the hinged cover inscribed with a monogram and set with an oval porcelain plaque supported by twin putti within foliate cast borders, the base with a further plaque depicting Cupid, and with mask handles, opening to reveal two lift-out trays, one containing a silver gilt mounted glass scent bottle, pair of scissors, button hook and needle case, and with four six-point stars, 24cm wide Ivory panel to top with five significant splits, the longest 11cm. Three splits to ivory at reverse, the longest 6cm. Significant surface degradation to putti and mask handles. Some wear to gilding throughout. Contents of necessaire incomplete. Scent bottle with sprained hinge. Some wear to gilding throughout and wear to velvet lining. 210213
