A Victorian walnut davenport with a pierced tray-top gallery above a fitted interior enclosed by a hinged sloping lid with gilt-tooled leather writing surface, a pen-drawer & four graduated drawers to the right-hand side, mock-drawers to the left, all with turned knob handles, on carved cabriole front legs with ceramic castors, 22” wide x 33” high x 23” deep.
A 19th Century Victorian mahogany library reading club armchair / arm chair. The chair with button back rest with cushioned arms having ornate carved detailing. Overstuffed seat cushion with serpentine frieze all raised on small cabriole legs with white ceramic castors. Measures approx; 94cm x 68cm x 62cm.

A SET OF SIX GEORGE IV MAHOGANY DINING CHAIRS ATTRIBUTED TO GILLOWS, EARLY 19TH CENTURY The morocco leather backs and seats buttoned, the seat rails of two chairs stamped 'T. WILLSON 68 GREAT QUEEN STREET LONDON', the later brass cappings of the casters stamped 'CLARKE & TIMMINS' each 90cm high, 48cm wide, 61cm deepFor a related chair see Susan Stuart, Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730-1840, vol. I, pp.218-221, pls. 200 and 202. This design of this lot of chairs relates to a set of 'Handsome Mahogany Chairs' made for Lord Bolton of Hackwood Park in 1813 by George and Richard Gillow of Oxford Street. In the Christie's 1998 Hackwood catalogue introduction, Anthony Coleridge emphasised the advanced style of the Gillow chairs supplied in 1813 (plate 200) and pointed out the interlaced scrolls in the crestings, the dished top rails and reeded turned tapering legs... are all features expected on chairs of the 1820s and 1830s, but not as early as 1813.The well-regarded furniture retailer, broker and appraiser Thomas Willson is first recorded in directories at 68 Great Queen Street, London in 1821. After his death in 1829 the firm was continued by his wife Mary and son Matthew until it ceased in 1854.Clarke & Timmins, cabinet and brass founders, fl. 1877-86, are recorded at 10 Soho Square, London and works, 28 Exeter Row, Birmingham Condition Report: There are some marks, scratches, chips, splits, abrasions consistent with age and use, some to the extremities and edges.There is a slightly opaque quality to some areas of the 'varnish' of the wood including the areas that have knocks.There is evidence of worm including to the seat rails.The brass cappings and brown ceramic casters are late 19th century. There is some later staining to some seat rails, with some later corner blocks.The upholstery has various later woven fabric border trim applied with some traces of glue. The leather is aged and dry with creases, rips, scuffs and wear.Please note we have not inspected the frame beneath the upholstery and can't comment on the condition and originality of this area.Please refer to the additional images for a visual reference of condition. AN ITALIAN CARVED OAK 'THRONE' CHAIRIN THE MANNER OF BRUSTOLON, LATE 19TH CENTURYCarved with winged figures and dolphins111cm high, 80cm wide, 69cm deep Condition Report: There are some marks, scratches, knocks, chips, splits and abrasions consistent with age and use.Overall the oak has a dark stain. There are losses including chips to some protruding areas including the toes, edges of flowers, scrolls. Some joints have opened including to the arms and back and platform base - sectional construction joints. There is some evidence of worm including to the internal seat rails.The feet have some scuffing and recessed cream ceramic casters.The upholstery is red velvet with some creases. There is a brass stud style border applied in an amateur manner. The edges of the fabric are unfinished and slightly uneven, with signs of previous upholstery tacks. The upholstery is loose and uneven.We are unable to inspect areas covered in upholstery and so cannot comment on the condition and originality of these areas we are unable to see.Please refer to the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition.
