19th century AD. A group of six glazed ceramic Persian spice dishes, five shoe-shaped and one star-shaped, each with a floral panel to the flat base and hatched border with flowers. 775 grams total, 16cm (6 1/4"). Property of an Essex collector; acquired in UK, 1980s-2000. [6] Fine condition.

A group of two white-glazed ceramic vessels comprising: a squat pot with horizontal bands of geometric ornament; a saucer with 'GM' in a cartouche at the centre, radiating plaques with hatched and geometric ornament, marked 'ITALY' in blue to the underside with cockerel motif. 257 grams, saucer: 13.5cm (5 1/4"). A mixed group of ceramic pipes comprising: one formed as a horse's hoof; one with ship and anchor motifs in low-relief; one with slender canted bowl and pad; one with 'Burns Cutty' stamps. 104 grams total, 11-15cm (4 1/4 - 6"). 9th-12th century AD. A mixed group of bead pendants comprising: two silver wire hoops each with a green glass annular bead; a beaded silver wire loop with ceramic bead. 507 grams, 17-25mm (1"). From an old Munich collection; acquired on the German art market before 2000. [3, No Reserve] Fine condition.
4th century BC. A hollow-cast terracotta pig figurine with lowered head. 391 grams, 15cm (6"). From an old British private collection; formed between 1975 and 1985. A number of ceramic pig figurines have been found at the ancient ritual site of Eleusis close to Athens. The Eleusinian Mysteries were the most famous of the so called Mystery Cults and focused on the agrarian goddess Demeter and her daughter the goddess Persephone who was abducted by Hades and taken to the underworld at Eleusis. The cult was a secret one that involved initiation and was concerned with purification, the revelation of sacred objects and words and the belief in the rebirth of the soul as exemplified by the return of life in Spring. At the site of Eleusis a crack in the earth marked the spot where Hades carried Persephone to the underworld and it was at this spot that devotees would sacrifice pigs or leave ceramic models of pigs as an offering. Bronze Age, 2000-900 BC. A group of three items comprising: one half of a circular Bronze Age stone metal casting mould for a circular mount or object, with casting channel in a coarse stone (with inked reference 'OXON'), dating to circa 1200 BC; a ground stone Bronze Age archer's wrist guard in a grey shale with two full and one partial perforations for tying thongs, chipped at two corners (with inked reference 'Feltwell'), dating to circa 600 BC; and a shard of Bronze Age ceramic Beaker vessel showing 'fingernail' impressed ornament (with inked reference 'Icklingham, Suffolk'), dating to circa 900 BC. 270 grams total, 50-70 mm (2-3"). Ex Michael Nellist collection; acquired from Keith Lloyd (with list extract), one from Bonhams 13/04/2011, lot 224 (ex Ancient Relics with certificate, ex R. S. Murray collection) and one Keith Lloyd; findspots as stated. The Mike Nellist Collection. His interest in antiquity was piqued when, during the 1970s, he spent some time working in Israel and had the opportunity to visit Roman-period locations including Lake Galilee and Masada, the site of the famous Judaean revolt and subsequent massacre. He made his first purchases at that time and was soon building an enviable collection of artefacts. While studying at university, he was able to study human remains at first hand in conjunction with archaeological research and from there his passion for the human aspects of historical research was kindled. Now retired, Mike indulges one of his other passions – wildlife and nature photography [3, No Reserve] Fine condition, the guard chipped at two corners.

A mixed group of ceramic vessels comprising: a squat bowl with flared rim and two loop handles, reserved white figures of girls dancing and playing instruments, vegetation and pot-plants in the field; a tall jug with flared base, tubular neck with pouring lip, strap handle, reserved white figures of hntsmen at a gate with hounds and horses, foliage to the neck, stamped to the undrside 'Jasper Ware Made in England since 1800, Dudson Hanley'. 637 grams total, 11.5-15cm (4 1/2 - 6"). Ex Steinberg collection; acquired London art market, 1960s-1970s. Walter Steinberg has been a well-known figure at fairs, sales and events for many years. Born in 1922 in Philadelphia, Walter has had a life-long passion for collecting. A long-time resident in London, he has now retired to New York and decided that the time has come to pass on the antiquities and coins he has collected over his lifetime. Walter acquired coins and artefacts that interested him, so his collection, although containing many lovely examples, also contains many affordable specimens. Much of the material has been unavailable to the market for 30 to 50 years. Walter hopes that the items he collected will now find new homes with the next generation of collectors. 20th century AD. A cream-glazed ceramic jar with narrow base and broad mouth, two ribbed loop handles to the sides; band of black to the body with reserved leaf and flower motifs. 318 grams, 94mm (3 3/4"). From a central London collection formed between 1990-2000. [No Reserve] Fine condition.

Property of a London collector; acquired London Art market in the 1980s. [2, No Reserve] Fine condition; one restored, one incomplete.
A group of 19th century and later English ceramic plates to include a Royal Worcester commemorative example depicting Earl Beauchamp Major of Worcester and Lady Mary Lygon Mayoress of Worcester, dated 1896, a blue and white floral decorated stone china Wedgwood & Co example, a group of blue and white transfer decorated plates, also a Clarice Cliff transfer floral decorated plate, and an 18th century Dutch plate, etc. CONDITION REPORT: The Wedgwood example has some crude restoration to rim. Some transfer decorated blue and white examples have chips and scratched throughout, one has been reglued. The Dutch plate has chips throughout to the rim and rim appears to be rubbed. Clarice Cliff has a few minor chips to underneath of rim and some firing imperfections. Royal Worcester plate appears to be in good condition.
A quantity of ceramic kitchenalia, including four pieces of TG Green & Co Ltd Cornish ware, a group of similarly decorated Staffordshire chef ware, a Carlton Ware jug of rectangular form, etc. CONDITION REPORT: The large Cornish ware jug has two major chips and a hairline to the rim and also the cover has a reglued chip. The cylindrical jar has a small chip to the top rim and has got a horizontal hairline all around. Carlton Ware jug has rubbing to the paint throughout.
Various ceramic tea sets including Bone Coronet China, HF Wedgwood and Co Ltd, Royal Doulton "Miramont", and two others, a set of Wood's Ivory Ware dinner plates and bowl, a J&G Meakin tureen and cover, a group of various ceramics including Coalport "Ming Rose" trinket box and pen tray, various pin dishes etc.
SABINO; three French glass figures depicting two birds and a squirrel, also a Continental ceramic figure of a seated gentleman in Oriental clothing, a studio pottery figure of a soldier (both af) (5). CONDITION REPORT: Squirrel: chip to tail. Small bird: minor chips to each wing. Larger bird: chip to the end of the beak and several small chips to the base. Both figures have reglued heads. Oriental: reglued foot.
A Chinese ceramic table screen of circular form, decorated with moulded and painted branches of blossoming prunus and with Greek key decoration to the rim, height 17cm and a Japanese bowl modelled as a lotus flower with a crab to the inside, the foot modelled as a snake, signed to the exterior, diameter 14.5cm.
Three Japanese silver cups and saucers embossed with floral motifs, with original ceramic liners hand painted with similar decoration, diameter of saucer 11cm, by Samurai Shokai of Yokohama, stamped with "Fine Silver" character hallmark. CONDITION REPORT: Two ceramic liners have very minor chips to the rim, one has a hairline and the other has star crazing.
A Victorian hallmarked silver hat pin with heart shaped twisted finial, Charles Horner, Chester, another silver Charles Horner hat pin with a knot finial, an early George V hallmarked silver finialed hat pin with purple stone mount, Birmingham 1912, a short white metal example with bright cut gourd finial and safety chain, and a bone acorn finialed example, all in a ceramic hat pin holder (6).

CONDITION REPORT: Some reduced in length. A few stone losses. slightly bent stems. Some scratches to glass examples.
A George IV hallmarked silver circular comport set with Royal Worcester porcelain plaque depicting apples and cherries, signed by William Bee, Sanders & Mackenzie, Birmingham 1828, height 12cm, diameter 16cm. CONDITION REPORT: The stem is dented just beneath the bowl , dent to base and rim is slightly misshapen, scratches to the ceramic plaque and the inside of the bowl.
