A RARE JAPANESE CERAMIC PLAQUE WITH A TOTEI CLOISONNE CENTRE AND CINNABAR LACQUER, heavily inlaid with abalone shell, the cloisonn centre depicting a phoenix, butterflies and native flora surrounded by a green lacquer Greek key border, the cinnabar outer rim lacquered with multi coloured applied leaves and heavily inlaid with abalone shell, the reverse lacquered with a square seal signature to the centre, 50.9cm diameter, 7.9cm high.
A Stevens and Williams Royal Brierley Cactus vase designed by Keith Murray, flaring cylindrical form on applied foot, engraved with a simple cactus flower design unmarked, 34.5cm. high Literature Charles R Hajdamach 20th Century British Glass, Antique Collector's Club, page 149 for an identical shape vase decorated with Cactus. Andrew Casey 20th Century Ceramic Designers in Britain, Antique Collector's Club, page 205 plate 226 for a comparable shape decorated with an angel fish (original Stevens & Williams advertisement circa 1939) and page 189 plate 203 for a similar shaped vase, with different foot, decorated with a cactus design.
Three Winstanley ceramic cats, all three in seated pose and signed, tallest 31 cm. CONDITION REPORT: All cats appear to be free from any chips, cracks or restorations. The medium cat and smaller cat have slightly rough tips to the ears but this is a production issue and not something that has been done at a later date. All cats appear to be in a condition when they left the pottery.
A Victorian walnut kidney shaped stretcher table, with tooled leather surface, turned supports and downswept legs terminating in ceramic castors, width 91 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound. The original leather has numerous scuffs, scratches, holes and losses but is a universal colour. The walnut crossbanded surround is in good condition all round as is the moulded edge and crossbanded frieze. Both legs are in good condition. The centre stretcher is in good order. There are no repairs to the cabriole legs and all castors are original. The table has been cleaned and lightly polished in recent years. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
A Victorian oil lamp, with cranberry glass shade and reservoir, brass column and raised on a ceramic base. Height including chimney 66 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This item is in good order throughout with no obvious chips , cracks or flaws. The burner and reservoir can be unscrewed from their mounts.
A pair of Victorian walnut ladies and gentleman's chairs, with exposed scroll carved showframes, deep buttoned backs, upholstered seats and raised on cabriole legs terminating in brass and ceramic castors. CONDITION REPORT: Both chairs are in extremely good condition. The upholstery is very clean with no staining. It is also not worn at all. If the colour suits, then they do not require any re-upholstery. Both chairs are structurally sound with no loose joints. They do not appear to be any repairs or restoration. All castors are original. In our opinion the chairs could be used or re-sold in their current state without the need for any work.
