ROLEX REF. DAYTONA EVEROSE 16515LN "APH" CHAMPAGNE DIALAn 18k pink gold self-winding chronograph wristwatch with black ceramic bezel with tachometer scale.Year : C. 2010 Dial : Bicolor white and champagne with applied luminous pink gold indexes, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12- hour and 30-minute registers. Signature : Dial, case and movement Accessories : Service PouchEarly 2010s examples of the Daytona ref. 116520 like the one we are offering for sale, were delivered with what collectors now call “APH” error dial. The “APH” dial variation refers to the final three letters in the “Cosmograph” text that are, on the afflicted example’s dials, positioned slightly further away than they should be, introducing a visible space in the middle of the word, an error in the typographic kerning of the text. The “APH” Daytona ref. 116520 is a great example of exactly how detail-oriented and knowledgeable some collectors can become, simply by making sure to value any differences in terms of degrees. If you want something no one else has, you have to go looking for it to begin with. The Rolex Daytona ref. 116520 was introduced in 2000 to replace the previous Daytona generation, the long-running ref. 16520 with the famous Zenith El Primero-based movement ticking inside. The ref. 116520 quickly stood out not only as the first Daytona of the new millennium but also as the landmark home of Rolex’s first-ever in-house chronograph movement, the now-famous self-winding calibre 4130. The ref. 116520 would remain in regular production at Rolex until 2016.Our exemplar is even rarer, in a Rolex Everose 18k pink gold case. A rare opportunity to collect such an important watch.
