A Victorian pink opalescent and brass oil lamp, circa 1880, handpainted with a heron amongst reeds and lotus, all upon a black ceramic and gilt base. Overall height 64.5 cm including chimney. CONDITION REPORT: The part frosted and etched glass shade maybe contemporary to the lamp but not original to it. The shade is free from any obvious chips, cracks or damage. The chimney is in good order. The lighting mechanism does not have a wick fitted but all the knobs turn. The decoration on the glass body appears to be good throughout with no obvious faults. The gilt decoration at the base of the image is 40% rubbed and a further gilt line beneath the first knop is also rubbed. The glazed pottery base is free from any chips or cracks. It is impressed with the numbers 645. There is some minor gilt rubbing to the thinner gilt line on the base. The long handles on either side are slightly misshaped but still intact. Overall a decorative piece.
A 19th century ormolu mantle clock, French, with ceramic tablet numerals. Height 42 cm, width 25 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The gilding is rubbed on both foliate scrolling side appliques. This has originally been under a dome but given the amount of dust and grime that has congregated in the crevices it has obviously been without a dome for sometime. The gilding looks bubbled to the left and right of the face mask. The gadrooning directly beneath the face mask and to the sides is free from the majority of its original gilding. The enamelled numerals all appear to be in good order with the exception of number 8 which has a small chip on the top left-hand side which is only really notable using a magnifying glass. The 8-day Japy Freres movement chimes on a bell and is numbered 8002. The majority of the gilding on the rear of the case is missing. All in all in tired condition in need of some restoration.
