Lot 1179

A George III mahogany miniature chest of drawers, with hinged top opening to a mirror and fitted with two frieze drawers with ceramic handles and raised on bracket feet. Width 33 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This piece requires some work. The top is flat without any cracks. There is a 6 inch section of boxwood stringing missing to the rear right hand corner. Both hinges are original. However above each hinge there are significant cracks and breaks to the back of the top. There are small losses here. The mirror is perished. There are veneer losses around the left hand hinge and beneath the base of the mirror. The interior of the top is in generally good order. There are some small veneer losses to the edge. The left hand side has a jagged crack through the crossbanding on the top edge. The right hand side is in good order. The top drawer is in good order and the handles probably original. The bottom drawer has polish issues and the right hand knob has a rectangular repair behind. All bracket feet are original and in good order.
