Geoffrey Eastop (British, 1921-2014) 'The Running Man' wall plaque, circa 1985 25cm x 38cm. Eastop had a particular attachment to this work. He made it in the mid-1980s when he was invited by the Bluecoat Gallery in Liverpool to make a work for a show dedicated to ceramic tiles created by studio potters. When the show finished it returned to Ecchinswell where he kept it on permanent display in the showroom right up to the time of his death. One particular collector desparately wanted to buy it but Eastop refused to sell to him. There were always some special pieces that he was never prepared to part with, and The Running Man was one of them.
