A CHINESE CIZHOU PILLOW JIN DYNASTY The broad eight-sided body decorated with ivory and a dark brown slip, and incised with a stylised floral spray to the top, 44.5cm. Provenance: a Spanish private collection, Madrid, purchased from Grace Chu, Capital Gallery. A copy of the original invoice is available. Cf. A RARE CHINESE CELADON BOTTLE VASE KANGXI 1662-1722 The ovoid body incised with stylised lotus flowerheads and foliage, with lappet bands to the tall cylindrical neck, all raised on a flared foot, the base with a paper label for the M H Soames Collection and the Oriental Ceramic Society exhibition, together with a wood stand, 22.7cm. (2) Provenance: the M H Soames collection, and later the collection of James Haydock Esq. and thence by descent, purchased from W Waddingham, Harrogate, 11th July 1957 for £40, a copy of the original invoice is available.
