A ceramic bowl, shaped square with incurved corners, the inside splashed yellow lustre, the outside beautifully painted on each face with a young nude bather with bobbed shingle hair sitting on her clothes beside a lake on a terrace with flowers and trees, the distant landscape reflected in the lake. Matt glazed and signed to underside “Elsie Rossen, 1936”. 18cm. square. This bowl has no factory backstamp yet the form is clearly from a regular production but then hand painted by a paintress to a very high standard and factory finished. No defects noted. 18cm. square
