Ca.1-300 AD, Romano-Egyptian. A beautiful restrung necklace comprising faience and glass beads in an evocative turqouise colour. Egyptian faience is a ceramic with a glass-like surface which can come in a variety of colours. Although the techniques for manufacturing faience were originally discovered and refined under the pharoahs, it continued to be made and used under the Ptolemaic Kingdom and later the Roman Empire.
