A very rare c. 1968 Italian chess set made by Giuseppe Ronzan & Sons (Italy) and retailed by Abercrombie & Fitch. Titled 'Jungle Chess Set' on oval brass plaque, the hardwood frame board composed of 16 tiles with stylised jungle foliage decoration. The hand-decorated ceramic chess pieces as jungle beasts to include lions (kings 15.5cm high), lionesses (queens), cheetahs, elephants, zebras and various monkey pawns (8 and 8.5cm high). (Board size approx. 65cm square)

A Victorian Amboyna, Walnut and Gilt Metal-Mounted Foldover Card Table, circa 1880, the quarter-veneered and bone-inlaid top enclosing a green baize-lined interior, on tapering fluted supports inset with blue and white circular jasper mounts with a turned stretcher surmounted by a gilt metal urn, on capped feet and ceramic castors91cm by 47cm by 75cm The top with scratches, some deep (see images). The green baize interior is good. Some faults to the veneers, mainly around the legs. There are some small faults and repairs to the sections of bone inlay to the top. The interior of the table has some natural? splits (see image).
THREE EARLY CHINESE POTTERY CERAMIC ITEMS, MING AND EARIER. To include a black-glazed pottery bowl, a white-glazed ceramic cosmetic box, Song dynasty and a white-glazed Gu-form vase, late Ming dynasty. Bowl 16cm diam. (3)Bowl in good overall condition. Cosmetic box with Y crack to edge of cover. Gu vase with large area of repair to top section with overpaint.
THREE CHINESE CERAMIC ITEMS. To include a blue and white porcelain pouring bowl decorated with dragon, a double gourd form ewer with iron-spot decoration and a glazed pottery 'pilgrim flask' ewer. Pouring bowl approx. 16cm length. (3)Repair to spout to the iron spot ewer, with no other damages. Pouring bowl in good overall condition. Pilgrim ewer with repair to handle with minor areas of glaze loss and studs.
THREE CHINESE CERAMIC ITEMS. To include a Chinese Swatow red and green decorated dish, Ming dynasty. A moulded Longquan celadon dish with moulded floral decoration. Together with a cylindrical Qingbai glazed cosmetic box and cover. Swatow dish 19cm diam. (3)Swatow dish with chips to rim. Celadon bowl in good overall condition. Cosmetic box in good overall condition.
FOUR CHINESE CERAMIC CUPS AND BOWLS. To include a Chinese Qingbai glazed conical bowl with cared interior decoration. A Qingbai glazed lobed 'fish dish'. A small white-glazed cup with carved stylised floral decoration. Together with a sancai glaze cup, Tang dynatsy. Largest bowl 19.5cm diam. (4)Slight fritting to rim of largest bowl, no cracks or signs of repair. Minor fritting to rim of lobed qingbai dish. Two smaller cups in good overall condition.

A JAPANESE KUTANI WARE CERAMIC CHARGER. Decorated in polychrome enamels depicting a figure on horseback with further figures in a coastal landscape scene. Fuku 'Good fortune/happiness' mark to base. 36cm diam.One vertical hairline running from rim into the foot. Two other faint hairlines with areas of visible crazing.
FOUR CHINESE CERAMIC ITEMS, MING AND LATER. To include a Chinese Swatow blue and white pottery dish, thickly potted decorated with a band of 'Shou' characters, Ming dynasty. Together with two other blue and white bowls and a bowl and cover. Dish 28cm diam. (4)Bowls with faint hairlines. All with no chips and no signs of repair. Ming dish in good overall condition with no signs of damage or repair, general expected surface wear only.
A FINE CHINESE WESTERN HAN DYNASTY PAINTED POTTERY COCOON JAR. Made from a relatively highly-fired grey pottery and decorated with coloured pigments in a design featuring cloud patterns within vertical bands. All original coloured pigments. Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). Length of body 30.5cm, height 26.5cm. Reference: similarly decorated cocoon jars are described and illustrated in the 1991 Southeast Asian Ceramic Society book ?Spirit of Han?. Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton.
