A GORDON FORSYTH STUDIO POTTERY BROWN POT Of bulbous form with artist`s initials to the base `GMF 1938`, 23cm high, 26cm diameter Gordon Forsyth was born in Fraserburgh, Scotland in 1879. He played a pivotal role in British ceramic pottery for over forty years. He worked for Minton Hollins & Co, Stoke on Trent in 1903, Pilkingtons in 1906, and in 1920 he became Superintendent of Art Instruction, Stoke on Trent, where he was responsible for Burslem School of Art and tutored Susie Cooper, Clarice Cliff, Charlotte Rhead and Mabel Leigh. Some of his work can be found on display at The Stoke on Trent and The Victoria and Albert Museums. He died in 1952 aged 73.

A Victorian mahogany upholstered nursing chair with button back, standing on turned and fluted front legs and black ceramic castors Provenance: The following lots 11-26 are consigned for sale by a private individual. The items were bought to furnish Bottrells Close and consigned for sale after the vendor sold the house. Bottrells Close, Chalfont St Gilts is an early 17th century, timber framed house encased in 18th century brickwork. It was home to Milton`s friend Thomas Ellwood, the residence of Ralph Heal circa 1910 and the Sanderson family in the 1920s.
