A very rare c. 1968 chess set made by Giuseppe Ronzan & Sons (Italy) and retailed by Abercrombie & Fitch. Titled 'Jungle Chess Set' on oval brass plaque, the hardwood frame board composed of 16 tiles with stylised jungle foliage decoration. The hand-decorated ceramic chess pieces as jungle beasts to include lions (kings 15.5cm high), lionesses (queens), cheetahs, elephants, zebras and various monkey pawns (8 and 8.5cm high). (Board size approx. 65cm square) Condition Report: The items have been consigned privately and barely used. The board is in very good condition with no major problems. The boxes that the pieces are housed in have some damage and have been repaired with sellotape to keep the sides together. Two individual pieces have very minor chips - a dark monkey pawn with a double pinhead-sized chip to the inside of the ear, the other is a white monkey pawn with a few small chip to the underside of his left-hand front foot.
Five decorative wall-hanging pictures and prints to include: a gilt-framed oil on ceramic study of daisies (frame size 73cm x 42.5cm); a mid-20th century oil on canvas study of a Swiss-style chalet with mountainous background, indistinctly signed lower left, distressed cushion-moulded gilt frame; a gilt framed and glazed watercolour study, 'Mielo' (southern Italy) (5)
