A carved walnut armchair, with an oval button back Condition report Report by GH Several repairs. Strengthened between the backs and the arms with steel plates on both sides. Evidence of recent repairs to the fronts of the arms with modern screws visible underneath and associated glue. Some old wood worm. Evidence of further repair to joints at the bottom of the back of the chair. Generally chipped, scratched, dented and worn commensurate with age. Retains four ceramic casters. Generally reasonably firm. Damage associated with arms and back also visible from the front. Upholstery generally acceptable.
LATE VICTORIAN WALNUT DAVENPORT DESK having lidded stationary compartment, inset leather writing surface and four fitted drawers to the interior, a bank of four drawers with turned knobs to one side and with opposing dummies standing on projecting turned feet with ceramic casters. 54 x 53 x 85cm. CONDITION REPORT: A little dry, grubby and worn overall. Writing surface has significant wear and losses. Internal crack to the desk portion. Some minor losses to veneers in places.
LATE VICTORIAN ROSEWOOD DAVENPORT DESK having brass gallery to lidded stationary compartment, inset writing surface, with two fitted drawers to the interior, four drawers to one side with opposing dummies, ring turned front supports on ceramic casters. 90 x 53 x 55cm. CONDITION REPORT: Basically good condition for age, a little dry with some minor fading in places, wear to writing surface, no significant damage or losses.

CONDITION REPORT: Rather grubby and worn in places. Marks, scratches and blemishes to the top, no significant losses.

TWO JAPANESE ARITA U-SHAPED CUPS AND SAUCERS FROM THE COLLECTION OF AUGUSTUS THE STRONG, 18TH CENTURY Painted with panels formed as chrysanthemum petals and with iron-red and gilt flower sprays, each inscribed to the base with Johanneum marks ‘N:33’, paper labels for the Oriental Ceramic Society 1956 exhibition, nos.243 and 145, and for Spink & Son Ltd., 15.3cm. (4) Provenance: from an English private collection. Formerly in the collection of Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland. Cf. R Soame Jenyns, Japanese Porcelain, pl.32A, for a comparable example in the British Museum.
A LARGE VIETNAMESE BLUE AND WHITE MEIPING, 16TH CENTURY The tapering ovoid body painted with a large peony scroll, all within bands of lappets and panels of birds on a scale ground, 46cm. Provenance: from the Estate of Professor Henryk Urich (d.2015). Cf. South East Asian Ceramic Society, Vietnamese Ceramics, p.170, no.219, where a comparable vase is illustrated.
