Roker, Old Kent Road, mounted, framed & glazed, the image 39.5 by 56cm., 15 1/2 by 22in.; sold together with an aquatint by Henry Alken senior engraved by Clark titled 'A Prize Fight,' published by T McLean, 1820, the image 19 by 29cm., 7 1/2 by 11 1/2in.; and a modern ceramic mug decorated with a scene of the fight between Spring and Langan (3) The £200 Sayers v Heenan fight took place at Farnborough on 17th April 1860. The contest lasted for 2 hours and 6 minutes but ended as a draw. It was significant because of the international nature of the fight, with Heenan an American challenger.
