He had also competed at the Helsinki 1952 Olympic Games. The German At the 1956 Games athletes from West Germany, East Germany and Saarland competed as a United Team of Germany and won a total of 26 medals, six gold.

Mechanism a little stiff but does fully extend - see additional images. Colour difference between the leaves and the D shaped ends but not seriously so. General age wear throughout, top with some marks and scratches, some wear at edges and corners of leaves. General scuffs etc to the legs. Overall appearance ok. (Extra images have been uploaded)
