Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games cased ceramic plaque for the United Team of Germany,circular, bearing Olympic Rings, laurel and Olympic motto, the reverse inscribed MELBOURNE, 1956, GESAMTDEUTSCHE OLYMPIANSCHAFT, diameter 9cm., the velvet lined fitted case with Olympic Rings in gilt This plaque was awarded to Gunther Brenneke, a bronze medallist in the field hockey competition following Germany's defeat of Great Britain in the 3rd/4th play-off match.Brenneke, a midfielder, played 46 times internationally between 1951 and 1960. He had also competed at the Helsinki 1952 Olympic Games. The German At the 1956 Games athletes from West Germany, East Germany and Saarland competed as a United Team of Germany and won a total of 26 medals, six gold.

A Victorian mahogany extending dining table, with four spare leaves, on turned legs with fitted brass and ceramic casters, 71cm H x 344cm W x 122cm D (size extended) the leaves with a mahogany leaf rack (6) CONDITION REPORT: The leaves appear to be original. Mechanism a little stiff but does fully extend - see additional images. Colour difference between the leaves and the D shaped ends but not seriously so. General age wear throughout, top with some marks and scratches, some wear at edges and corners of leaves. General scuffs etc to the legs. Overall appearance ok. (Extra images have been uploaded)
