A Coalport Fruit Painted Cabinet Plate, Frederick Chivers, circa 1920-30, shaped circular, painted with a bunch of purple grapes, a peach and blackcurrants on a mossy and ivy clad bank, signed, within a broad midnight blue border enriched with gilt scrolls, dentil rim, blue printed crown mark, gilder's number 5351/R and impressed 18A23, 27cm diameter. Frederick Chivers (1881-1965) fruit and flower painter, who worked for the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company, but by 1906 worked at the Coalport Pottery specialising in fruit studies. The background on his work was achieved by working the ceramic colour with a matchstick, giving a stippled effect. An Art Nouveau Mahogany Sideboard by Shapland & Petter Ltd. of Barnstaple, with shaped shelved back and tapering legs, decorated with honesty leaves in fruitwood and abalone, stamped to the reverse with R2229 / 105, the panelled central doors and bowed end cupboards having foliate scrolled handles with Ruskin style ceramic insets, 152.5 cms wide.
An Edwardian mahogany envelope card table, the square top with moulded edge opening to a baize lined interior and fitted with a frieze drawer with brass drop handles with embossed backplates, raised on tapered legs of square section united by a raised shaped centre shelf and terminating in brass capped ceramic castors. Width 22 ins.
