1957 Chevrolet 3100 Stepside Pick-up Resto-mod Transmission: automaticMileage:19509The Task Force range is a light and medium duty truck series by Chevrolet, their first major redesign since 1947. It was billed as being more stylish compared to the earlier Advance Design Series while still maintaining its rugged durability. GM redesigned their truck line for the second half of 1955. Chevrolet and GMC named their new series independently. The cousins were differentiated by running gear and interiors; Chevrolet used Chevrolet engines, and GMC used GMC inline sixes and Pontiac V8s. For the first time in GM history, trucks were available with optional power steering, power brakes, and V8s. A column-shifted three-speed manual transmission was standard, with an optional floor-shift four-speed manual or hydromatic automatic. The new body featured the truck industry’s first wrap-around windshield, and an optional wrap around rear window for Deluxe cab models. Headlights became integrated into the wings. The cab got taller, and in-cab steps replaced the running boards of previous models. A ‘step’ between the cab and rear wings aided access to items inside the pick-up bed. This rust free, Ex-Californian 1957 Chevrolet 3100 Stepside Pick-up truck was subject to a complete rebuild and Resto-mod by Bill Stinnett, California, at the end of the 1990’s and since being imported to the UK in the early 2000’s it has been cared for and much improved. It had all new suspension which is lowered, a new four link rear suspension with a limited slip differential, a complete brake overhaul including fitting disc brakes, handbrake conversion and moving the brake servo to under the car, as was the battery, to keep the engine bay free from clutter. The custom, chromed engine is a 5.7 litre V8 unit mated to an automatic gearbox. Other work caried out which has improved the restoration include new complete exhaust system from the ceramic headers to the side pipes, new petrol tank, a new ‘four barrel’ 600 Holley carburettor and a custom dashboard with a rev counter and cigarette lighter/charging point. The custom blue cloth interior is complemented with a top of the range stereo system and electric windows. Custom painted in light blue with discreet pinstripes is complemented by the chrome wheels and a custom full-length designed weather pick-up cover. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a file containing invoices for work carried out in the UK, this lovely 3100 Stepside, Resto-mod has won a number of custom awards and is admired whenever it is taken out and displayed.

Originally built in 1998 as a replica of XJB 308H, the penultimate 'Works' 1,275GT, and less than 5,000 miles since a total rebuild by Minisport. In the days when rallying was as much about proving a car’s reliability as its speed, the 1970 Daily Mirror World Cup Rally was the ultimate test. Just 23 cars finished from nearly 100 starters, the slimmest percentage of all the original 'marathon' rallies. It was so named because the route would follow the direction of the Jules Rimet Trophy as the World Cup’s host city moved from London in 1966 to Mexico City in 1970, the trip was hardly direct, taking in much of western and central Europe and the length of South America on its 16,000-mile journey.A sole Mini took part in the World Cup Rally, with BL at that point having switched its sporting focus from the Cooper to the square-fronted 1275GT. Though fully works supported, the Mini wasn’t expected to actually complete the rally, but BMC hoped it would lead the European sections, proving the new 1275GT’s speed (crucial, considering that it was a fair bit slower than the soon-to-be-discontinued Cooper ‘S’) before inevitably dropping out in America. It didn’t even do that, however, after blowing its pistons in Yugoslavia due to poor fuel. This particular example is an exacting replica of the car that took part, because the owner of the original doesn’t usually attend shows. A committed rally fan, our vendor worked as an apprentice at RTS Motorway Remoulds, which entered car number one – a Ford Cortina GT– in the London-Sydney Marathon rally in 1968. His interest in long-distance rallying grew from there: “I’ve always had Minis, ever since my first car, so it was natural for me to make a replica of the only Mini to take part in the World Cup Rally.”That car was originally built in 1988 and appears to faithfully replicate, XJB 308H, British Leyland’s only Mini entry in the 1970 World Cup Rally. By 2009 it was ready for a bit of a refresh and long-established specialists, Mini Sport in Burnley, were selected for the task. There is a file with the car documenting the components used and costs and they are summarised below. The Mini has covered just 4,750 miles since the build and has been regularly maintained.Engine and GearboxFully rebuilt in 2010 by Mini Sport and less than 4,750 miles sinceLongman cylinder head with ISKY valve springsAvonbar forged rockersNew 1275 A-Series crankshaft nitrocarburisedKent steel vernier duplex timing gearsKent Meg rally camshaftBalanced and polished rodsCompetition centre main capOmega dished high compression pistonsHigh-capacity oil pumpAldon race distributorTyler inlet manifold and Weber 40DCOE with a K&N filterManiflow large bore LCB manifold and full 1.75” bore twin-box exhaustUltralight steel flywheelLight steel backplateAP ceramic paddle clutch centre plate with AP Grey diaphragm clutchBody and InteriorRebuilt and repainted by Minisport in 2009 (Tartan Red with an OEW roof)Cross-drilled grooved discs and Cooper s calipersGenuine 5x10” MinilitesSeam-welded and powder coated subframes (rear new in 2011)Fully rewired with a custom loom in 2008Monte Carlo Alloy SumpguardFull roll-cage including door bars4-point harnesses (new 2014)Moto-Lita Mk 4 suede covered wheelCustom works replica dash - paperwork includes wiring diagrams Works-type heated front screenBrantz International 2 TripmeterLifeline plumbed-in extinguisher plus a hand-heldRed Top 30 battery70amp alternator4 x Lucas 700 lightsThe car has a current MSA Logbook but the seats and fire extinguisher are out of date, however, it's fully usable for non-MSA events and is always being invited to historic events and shows where lots of people still remember the 1970 World Cup Rally. The K8 was surely the ultimate development of Mercedes Benz superb R230, and this is one of only six factory-built cars in the UK.Introduced in 2002, after some five years in development, the R230 Series SL Roadster was an engineering tour de force. Painstakingly modelled on a state-of-the-art supercomputer which enabled the designers to analyse every curve and line, it looked utterly sensational with an air of barely-contained aggression that gave it huge road presence. With its balletic folding roof that takes less than 20 seconds and packed full of sophisticated electronic driver aids which made it immensely safe but still fun to drive, it was an instant success and is widely considered to be the best-looking Mercedes for many years. However, they were produced in commercial numbers, and there are always enthusiasts who would like something a little more exclusive and that market was catered for by Mercedes’ Performance Division, AMG, who, in 2003 introduced their SL55 AMG. Seriously powerful and impressively fast, the supercharged 5.4-litre V8 was rated at 493bhp and the AMG was fitted with larger wheels, bigger brakes, uprated electronics and some subtle cosmetic changes. The SL55 AMG was expensive, exclusive and rather special but, as always, there were one or two customers for whom it wasn’t quite special enough and, for those discerning individuals, the Holy Grail was the Brabus K8.BRABUS GmbH is a German high-performance automotive aftermarket tuning company founded in 1977 in Bottrop. Their ‘K8’ was launched at the Geneva Salon and marketed as a ‘performance kit’ but in truth it’s considerably more than that. The engine modifications require that each Brabus dealer has a dedicated engine builder and similarly the suspension, electronic and cosmetic changes all require experienced specialists. Hardly a ‘kit’. The engine modifications were primarily to the supercharger drive with a custom vibration damper and a new pulley for improved belt-drive geometry, high-performance metal catalysts and an auxiliary circulation pump with opposing radiator. This raised output to a minimum of 530bhp and a tree stump-pulling torque of 572lb/ft. and, when he was fully happy, the engine builder signed a small brass plaque and attached it to the top of the engine. Brabus also tweaked the car's aerodynamics to enhance high speed stability with a new front spoiler, while a more prominent diffuser works the air harder at the back to increase downforce. Underneath, the car's active body control suspension was recalibrated using an electronic module for the ABC, lowering ride height by 15mm, and the braking system was uprated by the Brabus engineers. Whilst the additional 40 odd bhp produce a small increase in performance, we understand that it’s the K8’s amazing handling that takes the SL55 to another level. The redesigned side skirts create an aerodynamic transition between the wheel arches and feature automatic illumination of the ground whenever the door is opened and the new rear apron incorporates a subtly altered diffuser. Externally, these modifications are not immediately noticeable which cannot be said about the striking polished 20” Brabus ‘Monoblock’ wheels. On offer here we have an original UK-supplied right-hand drive 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG developed to Brabus K8 specification at the factory during February 2003 before being delivered on 28th May 2003. It’s finished in gleaming Obsidian Black with an ‘exclusive’ Black/Anthracite leather interior and a Designo Alcantara roof lining in Alpaca Grey. It was well-optioned from new (panoramic glass roof, alarm, phone prep, Parktronic, Keyless-go, CD changer etc.) and would have cost around £165,000 at the time. With an indicated mileage of 50,000, the Mercedes has been maintained to the highest of standards with fairly recent expenditure covering two new batteries, fuel pump pressure sender, rear driveshafts, ABC pump and thrust arm. The ABC front struts have also been replaced and brand new Brabus Monoblock VI wheels with Vredestein tyres have been fitted to further enhance this already head-turning Mercedes. A five-year ceramic coating was applied a couple of years ago alongside a deep clean and full paint correction. The car is accompanied by two spare keys, the full book pack and numerous invoices. This is a very rare car in wonderful condition and, if ever a car was worth a trip to inspect, then this is it, and you won’t be disappointed.SpecificationMake: MERCEDESModel: SL55 AMG BRABUSYear: 2003Chassis Number: WDB2304742F054882Registration Number: GN53 YLHTransmission: AutoEngine Number: 11399260016417Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 50000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Grey HideClick here for more details and images
Just two owners from new, with single ownership for over 20 years and covering just 734 miles from new. Amazingly, the car has been serviced, MOT'd and cared for every year of its life, and recently was treated to a five-layer ceramic coating, including the underside. Truly outstanding. After 41 years and with the end in sight, Rover decided to mark the classic Mini’s long life with a penultimate limited-edition prior to the arrival of BMW’s new ‘MINI’. Following the popularity of the ‘Sport Pack’ Minis offered from 1997-2000, it was to be known as the “Mini Cooper Sport” and some 2,200 (1,000 RHD) were built between March and October 2000. They were a totally separate model and externally they could be distinguished by their muscular stance with flared wheel arches and 13" sports alloy wheels, four spot lamps and Platinum-coloured roof and bonnet stripes. The 'Sport' also featured an updated interior with stylish nickel-silver and black leather trim, drilled and polished alloy door and window handles, and a Sport dash in turned alloy silver and black finish. This remarkable example has a lovely, wholesome story behind it and couldn’t be presented in better order for its first time coming to public sale. Originally registered on 05/09/2000, this pretty Sport, one of 267 finished in British Racing Green, has covered just 734 miles from new with 370 of those miles being added in the last two years. Unlike the vast majority of very low mileage cars, this Mini has been taxed, insured, MOT’d and serviced every single year of its life without fail, regardless of mileage. Once it had received a service and MOT, it went straight back into its single heated garage. The car was the pride and joy of our vendor’s cousin who bought it new and evidently cherished it like no other. She kept the Mini until her passing in 2020 at which point a family member purchased the car from the estate, maintaining it’s single family ownership from new.The history file features a selection of old tax discs and MOTs, the original purchase invoices, its original book pack and associated books, a comprehensive and a chronological work history report from Bailey Automotive who serviced and MOT’d the car every year in our vendors ownership. To preserve the outstanding originality of the car, New Look Detailing were commissioned to carry out a meticulous five-stage ceramic coating to the entire car, including the underside, in order to future-proof its perfection. With a history of caring ownership, the tiny mileage and in stunning condition, this fabulous little Mini Cooper Sport will be right at home in any collection of rare Minis or at the home of any Mini enthusiast.
