The Harbour of Port Jackson & City of Sydney, New South Wales, panoramic view as seen from the North Shore, showing suburbs, towns, landmarks and buildings, many of which noted along the bottom, lithograph with hand-colouring, on two sheets joined, mounted on linen, total approx. 210 x 1595 mm. (8 1/4 x 62 3/4 in), some repaired nicks and tears, light spotting and browning, surface dirt and pencil annotations, handling creases, rolled, [circa 1870s].
India and the Middle East.- Salt (Henry) Pagoda at Tanjore; The Pass of Atbara in Abyssinia, both from: 'Twenty-Four Views in St Helena, The Cape, India, Ceylon, The Red Sea, Abyssinia and Egypt', aquatint and etchings, with hand-colouring, by Havell and Bluck, on thick wove paper, each platemark approx. 480 x 650 mm. (18 7/8 x 25 5/8 in), both with good margins, some spotting and browning, surface dirt and damp-stains, the 'Pagoda' with nicks and tears with two going into the platemark, both unframed, 1809; together with three plates from Edward Orme's Oriental Field Sports, including 'Smoking Wolves from their Earths', 'The Tiger at Bay', and 'Shooting a Leopard', aquatint and etchings, with hand-colouring, on Whatman wove paper with watermarked dates 1817 and 1818, each platemark 380 x 490 mm. (15 x 19 1/4 in), the latter plate with loss to lower right corner, otherwise surface dirt and browning, minor damp-stains, all unframed, [circa 1807 but later]; and with 5 others, including an exhibition poster 'Wild Sports of the East' featuring a cut-out reclining lion printed in colours using stencils, Orme's additional title page to Oriental Field Sports, and three views published by Bowyer, showing Monuments on the coast of Syria, another of the Tomb in the Valley of Jehosophat, and lithograph by another titled 'Cutting Mealies in Golu Valley, Feb. 1852', etchings, aquatints, lithographs, largest 360 x 530 mm. (14 x 20 7/8 in), all unframed, [19th century], (10).
Egypt.- Fabroni (M., fl. 1820s) Portrait of Giovanni Baptista Belzoni, surrounded by clouds, in an Egyptian landscape, lithograph, on thick wove paper, image 432 x 335 mm. (17 x 13 1/4 in), sheet 505 x 360 mm. (19 7/8 x 14 1/4 in), light even browning, minor spotting and surface dirt, handling creases, unframed, published by Mrs Sarah Belzoni, 1824.⁂ Belzoni was born in Padua, but spent his early life in England. At 6 ft. 7 in., and notably handsome, he acted as a side show giant, a conjuror, then as a strong man at Astley's and at Sadler's Wells, where he also practiced his skills as a water engineer. In 1815, he found his way to Egypt and became an archaeologist and explorer, where he discovered the burial temple at Abu Simbel, 6 royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, opened up the second pyramid, and discovered the lost city of Berenice. Egyptian statues to the foreground of the present image include the monumental bust of the 'Younger Memnon', and the head and arm of Amenhotep III.
Angling.- Tolfrey (Frederic) Jones' Guide to Norway, and Salmon-Fisher's Pocket Companion, first edition, tinted lithograph frontispiece, additional pictorial title, 8 hand-coloured plates of flies, tissue-guards, original cloth, housed in a half morocco drop-back box, 8vo, 1848.⁂ A scarce work, in near fine condition, which was issued at the instigation of J. Jones (a tackle dealer of Jermyn Street). The first and most acclaimed of British books about angling in Norway.
After Deidre MacKay Clark; a colour lithograph 'Greenpaws, Bruno and Teddy Robinson', limited edition 162/999, signed and inscribed in pencil to lower margin, together with two limited edition colour lithographs, after Tom Dodson, 'The Press' and 'The Spot', each signed and numbered lower-right and other decorative pictures and prints (6).
