Herbert Pizer (1890-1920). The Blue Bird, signed bottom left, inscribed on the mount, watercolour and bodycolour over pencil 48 x 34cm. Together with a lithograph and two magazine covers, all unframed *Herbert Pizer (1890-1920) was a commercial artist working from studios in London and New York who specialised in illustrative magazine work, notably Pan magazine circa 1915. Pizer was married, until his death from appendicitis at the age of 30, to Lydia Jessie Daniels, daughter of George Daniels (see lots 337 and 338) who then later married Robert Marsh Brown (see lot 409B).
