David Hockney (British b.1937) Richard, Jim and Felix, for the Oz Obscenity Fund, offset lithograph, 1971, signed bottom right, numbered 19/30, measurements 70 x 93 cm (SH), frame 94 x 115 cm Provenance: private local collection, purchased at the Goldmark Gallery In 1971 a highly publicised trial was brought against British paper Oz and its journalists Richard Neville, Jim Anderson and Felix Dennis. They were charged with conspiracy to corrupt public morality based on an article published on the 28th May 1970 featured an illustration with Rupert the Bear's head atop an x-rated cartoon. The trial caused much public outcry as an infraction on freedom of speech and the accused were publicly supported by many celebrities and activitsts. David Hockney created this limited edition lithograph to raise money towards their legal costs and depicts the three journalists unclothed to convey their innocence.Condition report: Lot 17- is a work on paper, framed under glazing. The paper appears in good condition with no obvious signs of any tears or holes. There are some minor sparse spots of foxing either side of Felix, near the signature and between Richard and Jim (please refer to additional photographs). The frame has some general wear and tear and loose joints.

The variety of projects he is involved with are multi-faceted ranging from the video for Blur’s ‘Good Song’ to ‘Kingsley’ Shigley’s mascot for the Scottish football team Partick Thistle to ‘Really Good’ a sculpture of a bronze fist with upraised, out of proportion thumb which he created for the Fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square. Shrigley was created an O.B.E. in 2020 for services to the visual arts. Recent notable exhibitions include those in Glasgow, Germany and Sweden and he was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2013. His work is held in a number of important public collections including National Galleries of Scotland and Tate.

Die vorliegende Unikat-Arbeit wurde im Rahmen einer limitierten Serie als Jahresgabe des Museumsvereins Mönchengladbach 1983 herausgegeben.Sigmar Polke gilt als einer der bedeutendsten deutschen Nachkriegskünstler. Nach seiner Ausbildung zum Glasmaler studierte er an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf bei Karl Otto Götz und Gerhard Hoehme. Zusammen mit seinen Kollegen Gerhard Richter, Konrad Lueg und Manfred Kuttner begründete Polke den von ihnen sogenannten Kapitalistischen Realismus, einen neuen Kunststil, in dem es ihnen um die Ablehnung des etablierten Kunstbetriebs ging. 1999 stellte Polke im Museum of Modern Art aus und nach seinem Tod widmete ihm das Museum im Jahr 2014 eine Retrospektive.Zu Polkes umfangreichen Werk gehören Arbeiten in unterschiedlichsten Techniken. Diese zeichnen sich durch einen unkonventionellen und experimentellen Umgang mit verschiedenen Medien und Materialien aus, wie z.B. bei seinen Lack- und Schüttbildern der 1980er Jahre. Polke 84 lower left.The present one-of-a-kind work was published as an annual edition of the Mönchengladbach Museum Association in 1983 as part of a limited series.Sigmar Polke is considered one of the most important German post-war artists. Reims B335581351" und "AFFICHE EUROPEENNE 47902376". 1988 kreierte die berühmte Champagner-Firma unter der Führung von Claude Taittinger eine einzigartige, erfolgreiche Marketingkampagne, die zum Synonym für die Luxusmarke wurde. Patrick Arlet gestaltete das zugehörige Werbeplakat "l'instant TAITTINGER" mit der höchst eleganten, stilvollen Figur von Grace Kelly (1929 - 1982) in langem, schwarzem Kleid hinter einem gefüllten Champagnerglas. Das sinnliche Poster im Stil der 1950er Jahre mit dem Hollywood-Filmstar (der späteren Prinzessin von Monaco) wurde sofort zu einem ikonischen Klassiker und erweckte zugleich Neugierde auf die Marke. 168 cm x 114,5 cm (Passepartoutausschnitt).
