Référence: Cramer n°1037 p148 tome V [Mourlot 1037] Joan Mirò (1893-1983) – Lithographie II Paris dans le début des années 1920 connaît une émulation sans pareil. C’est dans cette ambiance dadaïste, dont l’effervescence se fait autour de la personne de Francis Picabia, que Joan Mirò (1893-1983) arrive à Paris, rencontre Picasso et les écrivains d’avant-garde tels que Max Jacob, Breton, Aragon ou encore Tzara. Dès lors, le peintre commence à se distancer d’une sorte de « réalisme esthétique » dont il avait pu faire preuve dans ses premières compositions, pour se tourner vers un style davantage géométrisant et simplifié, laissant alors paraître son adhésion aux émanations cubistes du temps. À partir de 1924, et raréfiant de plus en plus les corps figurés, Mirò commence à définir ce qui deviendra plus tard son genre propre où des éléments biomorphiques et stylisés se meuvent dans des espaces plats et illimités, bien souvent horizontaux, s’éloignant alors de la réalité pour basculer dans un monde onirique et fantastique. C’est au cours de cette même période que le peintre s’associe au groupe surréaliste, participant en 1925 à l’exposition à la galerie Pierre. Toujours empreint de l’univers de l’irréel et du rêve, Mirò poursuit sa carrière en évoluant vers un style plus abstrait. À partir des années 1930 et surtout dans les années 1940, l’artiste expérimente de nouvelles techniques telles que le collage ou la lithographie. Comme Braques ou Picasso, l’artiste conjugue les matériaux entre eux, les associe et incorpore dans ses compositions picturales des objets étrangers au médium, donnant naissance à des Å“uvres énigmatiques. Dans les années 1950, Mirò se retire à Palma de Majorque où il se consacre notamment à la céramique, sans toutefois oublier la France puisqu’il y retournera à plusieurs reprises. Connu et reconnu, Joan Mirò se forge un véritable statut d’artiste de renom, touchant aussi bien à l’univers pictural que plastique ou sculptural et ce toujours dans un univers subversif aux semblants enfantins mais ô combien intelligibles. C’est dans cette atmosphère aux confins des limites naturelles du figuratif et du conceptuel que s’inscrit l’œuvre que nous vous présentons. Livrant dans ses compositions lithographiées des formes multiples et absconses, souvent associées les unes autres dans un habile jeu de construction, Mirò donne vie à des créatures tantôt animales tantôt humanisées, parfois les deux, dans un jeu symbolique et poétique constant. La lithographie intitulée « Lithograph II », réalisée par Joan Mirò pour l’éditeur Maeght et imprimée par Mourlot Paris en 1975 est tout à fait caractéristique de la production de l’artiste puisqu’illustre une figure animale stylisée, un chat, dont les aplats de couleurs franches confèrent à la composition un vif dynamisme, provocant alors le spectateur dans un duel contemplatif.Gravures - EstampesPrints and EngravingsGrafik
