Holbein (Hans). La Danse des Morts a Basle, pub. Hasler & Cie, Basle, c. 1840, forty fine hand-coloured lithograph plates by Danzer after Hieronymus Hess (1799-1850), heightened with gum arabic, tissue guard to each, and gold, text in German, French and English, occ. scattered spotting, title page missing, a.e.g., orig. blindstamped cloth gilt, rubbed and somewhat worn to spine with upper cover near detached, faded to edges, 4to. The first edition of this particular Dance of Death sequence by the Basel artist Hieronymus Hess (1799-1850), which follows the well-known version by Holbein with two exceptions, plate 35 has a Chinese figure instead of a Turkish one, and plate 38 depicts the artist Hess himself. I rear pocket, a few light spots, contemporary previous owner signatures, original red cloth gilt, vol. I spine ends with chips and tears, spines faded, 8vo. (2).

THREE RUSSIAN ICONS, 19TH CENTURY. Comprising two Rostov enameled icons depicting the Great Prince Vladimir with suspension loop and inscribed on verso, the other depicting the Venerable Sergei of Radonezh mounted in indigenous vintage frame with suspension loop; and a vintage lithograph icon on wood depicting St. Tikhon of Kaluga, and a later decoupaged religious text. Largest 5 inches x 4.25 inches (13 x 10.5 cm), smallest 2.25 inches x 1.75 inches (5.6 x 5 cm).
THREE RUSSIAN ICONS, CIRCA 1890-1900. Comprising a colorful icon of the Vladimir Mother of God, lithograph on raised decorative tin support and set on wooden frame, lower edge with Moscow maker`s mark and dated 1896, 12 inches x 10.3 inches (31 x 26.5 cm); together with a charming Southwest Russian icon of the Tikhvin Mother of God, color lithograph laid on board, circa 1890, and contained in a glazed shadow box with cut foil decoration, 13.5 inches x 12 inches (34.3 x 30.5 cm); and a color lithograph icon of St. George slaying the dragon, 5.5 inches x 4.25 inches (14 x 11 cm).
A PAIR OF EXCEPTIONAL RUSSIAN LACQUER BOXES, PALEKH AND KHOLUI, SIGNED, CIRCA 2000. Comprising an oval box with hinged lid displaying hand painted scene of an Imperial banquet, artist signed in Cyrillic and inscribed Palekh, 6.25 inches x 2.8 inches (16 x 7.5 cm); and a rectangular box with hinged lid displaying hand painted scenes related to the fairy tale "The Magic Pike", artist signed in Cyrillic and inscribed Kholui, 4 inches x 6 inches (10 x 15 cm). Together with a Russian lacquer box with hinged lid exhibiting a printed lithograph image, 4 inches x 3.25 inches (10.5 x 8 cm). Each contained in original padded issuance box.
NAPOLEON RELATED FRAMED ARTWORK, 19TH CENTURY. Comprising five framed vintage images of or related to Napoleon including hand colored lithographs, engravings and aquatints, each contained in a finely and professionally matted and glazed frame. Including a colored engraving of the death of Napoleon above an engraving of Napoleon in the prison Nice, 27.5 inches x 21.5 inches (70 x 55 cm); the Escape of the Corsicun Tyrant color lithograph dated 1813, 19 inches x 24 inches (48 x 61 cm); Napoleon`s Escape from Krasnoi, 20.75 inches x 23.75 inches (52.5 x 60 cm); Napoleon in Imperial Costume with gilt laurels, 22 inches x 18 inches (55.5 x 45 cm). All dimensions are overall including frames.

U.S. WWII AIRBORNE SECRECY POSTER. "Careless Talk...Got There First", original vintage color lithograph poster depicting a U.S. Airborne paratrooper falling to the ground dead having been shot by German fighter planes shown in the background sky, suggesting that "Careless Talk" had tipped off the German enemy to this operation, U.S. Government printing office dated 1954 by Herbert Morton Stoops (1888-1948), signed in the plate, 28 inches x 20 inches (71.1 x 50.8 cm). Together with an original vintage WWII OPA (Office of Price Administration) Poster "Let`s team up to keep food prices down", dated 1944. 28 inches x 20 inches (71.1 x 50.8 cm).
