London.- Improvement Plan.- Martin (John, English Romantic painter of apocalyptic biblical scenes, 1789-1854) Plan of the London Connecting Railway & Railway Transit along both Banks of the Thames, with an Open Walk from Hungerford to the Tower, and from Vauxhall to Deptford, proposed plan for train networks in central London, not realised, lithograph with some hand-colouring, on thin wove paper, sheet 530 x 750 mm (20 7/8 x 29 1/2 in), repaired tear running into map from left edge, other repairs to edges and folds, minor surface dirt, folding into modern cloth boards, 4to, [circa 1845].⁂ Scarce.

Baikoff, Theodor Ilich -- Marktszene in Tiflis (Tiblisi), Georgien.Öl auf Leinwand. 43 x 77,5 cm. Unten rechts datiert und monogrammiert "1872 TB", verso auf dem Rahmen eine Galerienummer "14". Der in St. Petersburg geborene Maler Theodor Ilich Baikoff war insbesondere für seine Schlachten- und Genrebilder bekannt. Mit besonderer Vorliebe widmete er sich Szenen aus dem Leben der Bevölkerung der transkaukasischen Regionen, wie Dagestan, Armenien, Georgien und der Türkei. Als Lithograph brachte er in den 1860er Jahren auch sein Album "Transkaukasische Szenen und Typen" heraus. Vermutlich handelt es sich bei der hier dargestellten Marktszene um einen Platz in Tiflis. Hinter der Karawanserei, am Ende der Gasse erblickt der Betrachter eine Kirche, es könnte die Sironi-Kirche sein, in der Baikoff um 1850 auch an einigen Wandmalereien beteiligt war. Tiflis war bereits seit dem frühen Mittelalter eine wichtige Station der Karawanen auf der Seidenstraße, die vom Schwarzen Meer nach Persien, Indien und China führte. Auch im 19. Jahrhundert galt die georgische Stadt als kulturelles Zentrum des gesamten Kaukasus mit engen Verbindungen zu Venedig, Paris und Sankt Petersburg. Faber, Karl Gottfried Traugott -- Weite Landschaft mit Blick auf Bärenstein mit dem Schloss im östlichen Erzgebirge.Bleistift, grau und braun laviert. 15,6 x 21,5 cm. Unten links bez., signiert und datiert "Bärenstein von der Höhe bey Libenau/ TFaber d. 4. Octt. 1833". Nach der Ausbildung bei Carl Christian Fechhelm war Traugott Faber etwa zehn Jahre im Atelier von Johann Christian Klengel beschäftigt. London 1948 Olympic Games official poster,designed by Walter Herz, printed by McCorquodale & Co Ltd., depicting the Olympic rings with Ancient Greek statue of Discobolus of Myron, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, colour lithograph, framed, poster 74.5 by 50cm., overall 79 by 54cm., poster bears creases and fold lines, possible tears on upper margin Traditionally, the Olympic poster is selected by means of a design competition but, as the 1948 Games had to be organised with such haste, there was insufficient time. The choice of poster was therefore decided by the Executive Committee after a handful of designs had been submitted. The official report for the 1948 Games informs that the poster was printed in three sizes, double crown 20 by 30in. (50,000), crown 15 by 20in. (25,000) and double royal 25 by 4in. (25,000).
