(ARR) Reg Butler (B. 1913-1981) Tower Two, 1968 Lithograph Signed, dated and numbered 6/65 Mounted, framed and glazed Reginald Cotterell Butler (28 April 1913 – 23 October 1981) was an English sculptor. He was born at Bridgefoot House, Buntingford, Hertfordshire. His parents were the Master and Matron of the Buntingford Union Workhouse. Frederick Butler, formerly a police constable, was a relative of the poet William Butler Yeats; Edith was of Anglo-French descent. Butler studied and lectured at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London from 1937 to 1939. He was a conscientious objector during the Second World War, being exempted from military service conditional upon setting up a small blacksmith business repairing farm implements. After winning the 'Unknown Political Prisoner' competition in 1953 he became one of the best known sculptors during the 1950s and 1960s, and also taught at the Slade School of Art.Measuers approx. 65cm x 49cm (25.5" x 19") excluding frame.

offset lithograph on paper framed and under glass image size 35cm x 27cm, overall size 50cm x 42cm Note: John Byrne studied at both Edinburgh and Glasgow Schools of Art in the late 50s and early 60s. A superb painter and draughtsman, the multi-talented Byrne was also a first-class playwright (‘The Slab Boys’, ‘Tutti Frutti’), his ear for dialogue was as acute (and witty) as his eye for detail. Much of his subject matter in both disciplines is overtly autobiographical, he often included or refers to the Teddy Boy/Rock and Roll era of his youth. Byrne designed record covers for Donovan, The Beatles, Gerry Rafferty and Billy Connolly. His work is held in major collections in Scotland and abroad. Several of his paintings hang in The Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh, the Museum of Modern Art and the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow. The Fine Art Society, Edinburgh staged "John Byrne: In The Studio" in December 2024.

Text Portrait Lithograph of Queen Victoria's Life Events. This very unusual image is made up of lines of text describing key events in the life of Queen Victoria. A picture and history lesson all in one. It took 4 years and 7 months to complete and consists of 173,000 words. The picture was published to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897. A perfect demonstration that the technique of lithography can reproduce text. The story begins in the top left hand corner of Queen Victoria's hair, before the bonnet. Frame size: 94.5 x 71 cms. Image size: 88 x 64 cms Condition. Good except a little staining to the top left edge and bottom right edge but well away from the image.
