IMPERIAL HERITAGE KANGXI PERIOD FAMILLE VERTE PLATE, DRESDEN COLLECTION. A Rare Imperial Chinese heritage Qing Dynasty Famille Verte plate. What makes this plate especially unusual, is that it bears an incised inventory mark (N48 I) from the Dresden collection, formed by Augustus the Strong, Kind of Poland and Elector of Saxony who lived from 1670 to 1733. Part of the collection was dispersed by auction early this century (See Soame Jenyns, "Later Chinese Porcelain"). Measures 11 3/8" diameter (28.8cm). Total weight of 594 grams. Hand painted enameled floral panels throughout. Bottom holds Kangxi (1662-1722) period artemesia leaf mark to bottom in double circles. For much of the Kangxi reign, the imperial reign mark was forbidden by Imperial edict to be used, and the artemesia leaf was a not uncommon substitute. Item 2225, Provenance: Christie`s December 1999.
