A small French printed side plate, c1910 “Great Discoveries of the Century”, No 12 “The Conquest of the Air by Aviation”, with Lebaudy type airship in the sky being viewed through binocular by a man in top hat with his family. Magenta vine border, diameter 16.5cm. Together with a brown earthenware advertisement ashtray for “Backstroh & Olschlager, Dresden”, builders merchants, with pre-WWI Zeppelin over canal, boats and factory in the centre, 15x10cm (a few tiny chips). An airspeed indicator from the Zeppelin LZ128 in the form of an anemometer. The cup vanes pivoted between two discs on a short stem to the ball shaped body and dial, graduated 0-10 (10-20) and marked “m/s bei 1 Minute Messzeit” with maker’s name “Georg Rosenmuller, Dresden N6.” Black enamel finish overall. Overall height 170mm including modern purpose made brass base. GC. Plate.16
