A Chinese Porcelain Large Circular Dish, Kangxi, painted in underglaze blue with a foliate roundel within radiating lappet shaped panels with foliage on a lattice ground within a broad scroll rim with peacocks and chrysanthemums and panels of baskets of fruit, the reverse with precious objects and foliage, 55.5cm diameter See illustration Large chargers in this classic Chinese pattern were sought after by the foremost collectors of Chinese porcelain in the 18th century. A similar example in the Topkapi Saray is illustrated by Krahl and Ayres in The Catalogue of the Chinese Ceramics, vol 3, pl.2300. Another from the Royal Collection in Dresden was sold at Christie's, London, 19 May 2005. Typical minor rim frits and flakes. Some minor mis-firing to underglaze blue to central roundel.
