Johann Hamza (1850-1927) Austrian. An Elegantly Dressed Gentleman, seated beside a table in a library reading. Signed and inscribed "Wien", extensively inscribed on an old typewritten label giving biographical details of the artist in German and dated "19th May 1952" and signed by a member of staff from Anton Schroll & Co, oil on panel, 34cm by 24cm. A painter of genre scenes and portraits, he was a pupil of Edward Von Engerth with the Academy of Fine Arts of Vienna. He exhibited in Vienna, Dresden, and Munich 1879-1890. See illustration
