Or Dawning of the Day in the Orient... that is the Root or Mother of Philosophie, Astrologie & Theologie..., first edition in English, engraved frontispiece by Hollar, lacking explanation f., 2C3 margins a little frayed, small rust-hole to 2K3 and 2X3, 2S1 and 3A1 with tear just running into text, occasional dampstaining, soiling and some browning, ink notes to margins with some underlinings and cross-throughs in a near-contemporary hand, ink name and bookplate to pastedown, contemporary calf, rebacked and recornered, [Wing B3397], small 4to, by John Streater, for Giles Calvert, and are be sold at his Shop at the Black-Spread-Eagle at the West-End of Pauls, 1656.⁂ First English translation of the most important work by the famed mystic, the publication of which brought about his expulsion from Dresden. Collation: A2-B3, B5-C2, C5-D2, D5, F3-F5, G1-H6, I2-I5, L3-L5, *2-*5 (table). 42 lines, double column. Gothic type. Three-quarter tan calf, stamped in blind and in gilt, over green cloth-covered boards, joints and corners rubbed, spine ends chipped; earlier collator's notes on front endpapers; scattered marginalia and underlining; dampstaining at bottom corner of all leaves; scattered spotting. With the Theological Seminary Library, Gettysburg, Pa., book-plate, as well as donation book-plate of the Rev. Jeremiah Zimmerman, on front paste-down; same Seminary Library ink stamp on front free endpaper. OCLC 837220364.Wolfgang Stöckel (ca. 1473-1541) was a Leipzig-based printer who operated numerous printing presses across Central and Eastern Germany, including Wittenberg, Halle, Eilenburg, and Dresden. He briefly served as printer to George the Bearded, Duke of Saxony.Fragment from Georg Morgenstern's only known published work "Sermones contra omnem mundi perversum statum" (Sermons Against the Whole Perverse State of the World). A pair of Meissen teacups and saucers, circa 1860, one cup painted a view of Meissen, the other a view of Dresden, the saucers with reserves of flowers to a Cobalt blue ground, underglaze blue cross swords mark CONDITION REPORT: Both cups in excellent condition. One saucer in good condition, the other broken in several pieces and restored, with overpainting and discolouration.
dating: late 17th Century provenance: Ottoman Empire, Slightly curved, double-edged blade, in damask, with central raiser and with four grooves, a flat rectangle at the forte on both sides, with remains of gold decorations. Grip with dark, wooden grip scales, decorated in the central band and with twenty one, silver, engraved flowers. Wooden scabbard, completely covered with silver foil, with fantastic, nielloed, floral decorations and with remains of gilding. Front part with five facets, the central with Arabic inscriptions in bass-relief on a golden ground, inside the two cartouches, divided by a flower. The two lateral facets, apparently smooth, are actually decorated with filigree floral motifs and arabesques, external bands with flowers in bass-relief on a grained ground. Relieved ends, cap with braided bands, decorated with nielloed and engraved pendants, chape with a turban-pommel, decorated en suite and with remains of gilding. Faceted button. Smooth back part, engraved and nielloed with floral motifs and with a stamp (Tughra). Suspension ring. Daggers of this type are rarely found on the international market but it is really difficult to see a specimen with a nice scabbard like this. See similar specimen in 'Die Karlsruher Türkenbeute', Hirmer Verlag München, 1991. On page 202 there is a dagger with a similar blade and grip's shape (no. 148). Other specimens can be found in the Histoisches Museum Dresden, in the Livrustenkammaren in Stockholm, in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and in many other international museums and private collections.Literature: Stöcklein, 1914, page 139 fig. 32, Petrarch 1952, page 667. length 30.5 cm.

The rest of the set underglazed blue cross swords, each piece with one or two hatch marks, teapot 12cm h.
