PANIKER SUMMERTIME watercolour, signed and dated 22cm x 22cm Note: Paniker founded the Progressive Painters` Association (P.P.A), and in 1944 had his first solo exhibition in London and in Paris. A virtual child prodigy, Paniker began painting landscapes when he was only 12. By the age of 17, he was already exhibiting at the Madras Fine Art Society`s annual shows. Known best for his abstract metaphysical works, he began his career as a landscape artist. He later became the Principal of the Government College of Fine Arts in Cennai in 1957, and formed Cholamandal Artists` Village in 1966.
