As a result, this one is better proportioned, but is "coarser" in its drawing, again indicating the hand of a student. The original spine fold of the sketch book from which it has been removed now appears as a horizontal crease. Boucher's pupils at the time of the creation of this image included David and Fragonard.

There was a major retrospective exhibition of his work at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1961.
