Mary Queen of Scots - A Poem by Henry Glasshouse Bell, Sheriff of Lanarkshire, Raphael Tuck & Sons, printed at the Fine Art Works in London, being images from pictures painted for the Art-Union of Glasgow by Robert Herdman, R.S.A. and presented to the members for the year 1867-1868, Art-Union of Glasgow. Text in French reads Daude Pianos - Remarkable sound - For Hire - For Sale - 10 Year Guarantee, alongside the address and telephone number of the shop. The image shows a bald man in a black suit playing a piano, drawn from a bird’s eye view perspective with stylised text in red and yellow and a drawing of a grand piano in the top right corner. This is an official reprint made by the company of the original 1926 design. A version of this poster design is still used by Daude Pianos today. Very good condition, creasing on edges. The art deco image shows Josephine Baker wearing a green grass-skirt and pearl bracelet, facing away from the viewer and looking over her shoulder, with the face of a man in a collared shirt watching and a background of cream, blue and black shapes. The renowned American-born French entertainer, resistance agent, and civil rights activist Josephine Baker (1906-1975) performed as a Jazz Age cabaret dancer at the Folies Bergere, worked with French military intelligence and joined the French Resistance during WWII, supported the Civil Rights Movement and adopted 12 children during the 1950s-60s. Original vintage travel poster inviting to visit Denmark. The poster features a great bright illustration by Sven Henriksen (1890-1935) of a Rygaard manor in bright orange and red colours and its beautiful surroundings - a pond with white swan surrounded by lush green grass, bushes, and trees, with white fluffy clouds in the blue skies above. The Rygard Castle is located in Langa parish near Orbaek on southeast Funen. The manor was first mentioned in 1372, the current castle was built in the early 1500s by Councillor Johan Jorgensen Urne, who has inherited the farm from his father Jorgen Urne. Sven Henriksen was a notable Danish poster artist and created during the Golden Age of Danish poster art. Published by Winther & Winther in Copenhagen, Denmark.
