Historically Important Archive of Signatures and Photographs of Nuremberg War Trials Interest, Collected by a US Intelligence Officer in 1945, the archive which is held in a period album titled “NAZI CAVALCADE”. The album contains the signatures and in some cases the original prison “mug shot” photographs of nearly all the leading Nazi personalities that stood trial and helped give evidence during the International Military Tribunal / War Crimes Trials in Nuremberg. Each document has typed name and most have a description of the defendants activities during the War, on the document in most cases is a signature but some has a small two or three line statement above the signature. The description under Hermann Goering’s signature reads, “Leader of Richthofen Squadron in World War I, Director of the FOUR YEAR PLAN. Looter of priceless European Art Treasures, Nazi “Glamour Boy”, Designer of Uniforms, Drug addict, on trial in Nuremberg on all four counts of the indictment”. These documents were to authenticate the signatures of the defendants and in some cases prove their hand writing, this allowing the intelligence officers to prove if the defendant was involved in atrocities from original captured documents. Defendants are entered mostly in alphabetical order with two to a page, these range from high ranking military officers, political leaders, diplomats, factory owners and heads of institutions like banks. It was during this role that he collected all the documents and photographs that are in this album. After the war he remained with the US Army and was assigned to OSS before joining the CIA. He served as Station Chief in Karachi, Pakistan and Ankra, Turkey. His last four years in service were at Langley as Deputy to Dick Helms and Bill Colby, for covert operations.
