A Suzani Central Asia, 20th Century Cotton fabric embroidered with a floral pattern with pomegranate, a recurring motif in the classic Suzani textiles, possibly borrowed from the Turkish tulip.The term Suzani comes from the Persian and means needle, with a clear reference to the art of textiles and embroidery. The art of weaving is a relatively recent phenomenon in Central Asia because, although known and practiced even in ancient times in the area of Turkestan, and then re-evaluated under the Timurids, it not flourish until the 1770's, when Shah Murad, Emir of Bokhara, founded a silk factory in the valley of Zarafashan, triggering the production of luxury fabrics that lasted until impact with the Soviet regime, that led to the standardization of the manufacture and to the use of chemical colours. Kaye Don (1891-1981) World record breaking car & speedboat racer, a pair of Great War Medals each stamped LIEUT. K. DON. R.A.F., & a set of miniatures in an Art Deco style cigarette box owned by Kaye Don along with promotion papers presented to Kaye Don on his promotion from Lieutenant to Officer on the 1st of November 1918, signed & stamped Provenance - The vendor was a friend of the wife of Kaye Don. Kaye Don served in England’s Army and Royal Flying Corps in WWI. A motorcycle racer before the war, he began car racing in 1920 and became the British Motor Racing Champion in 1928 and 1929. Kaye Don also held several World Water Speed Records in the 1930s and received the International Motor Yachting Union Medal.

A 1970's 'Kate Beaver' Hand printed dress 'Little people' pattern. A wonderful example of a 1970's dress, made from velvet with block print design around the skirt. Size 10. After leaving art school in 1957, Kate took inspiration from Aubrey Beardsley and began appliquéing dresses with Art Nouveau designs, but the process was so time-consuming she soon moved to block printing.. The mayoress of Bridport had a dress made for her inauguration only to find there were at least another 10 Kate Beaver dresses at the same event!
